MOM Enterprises, Inc., of San Rafael, circulates baby's Bliss Gripe Water Calif. The FDA confirmed through lab tests that there is of cryptosporidium in these bottles. The FDA found the bacteria after the investigation of a 6-week-old infant in Minnesota who was given the water by a caregiver became ill.
Cryptosporidium is a parasite that can cause an intestinal infection in those people who are exposed to it. One of the more common symptoms of this infection is watery diarrhea.
Sometimes the affected person can become dehydrated, experience weight loss, have stomachaches, pain, and of course fever. However, the affected person can also experience nausea and vomiting.
All of these symptoms will mostly likely begin within 48 hours to a week of consumption, and will last for up to two weeks. Most healthy people will recover without medical intervention but for certain groups this infection could be life threatening.
The certain group includes, babies, elderly, as well as those weakened immune systems. Pregnant women should also be very cautious of any unexplained diarrhea. As we, all know diarrhea and dehydration seem to go hand in hand so you need to watch for that. People with this parasite will get very dehydrated quickly when they have the frequent diarrhea.
The FDA is encouraging parents and caregivers who have bought this water and given it to their children to watch the children closely. If any child you known that has consumed this product and is experiencing these symptoms you should take that child to the hospital immediately. Again, the product that is responsible for this outbreak is the Baby's Bliss Gripe Water, only the apple flavor is known to have had the parasite in it.
