As we walked from the parking lot to the Weight Watcher's office we were already winded and then horror; their office was on the second floor with no elevator! My enemy, my own! We took each step slowly and by the time we got to the registration desk we needed to sit down. The comforting sight of other newbies also out of breath gave me a temporary sense of relief. The facilitator was a beautiful thin woman, who I had an instant hatred for, thinking, "Oh yeah, what's the matter honey, didn't get to do your 100 stomach crunches after you had your bowl of air for breakfast?" I held my judgment and listened to her story. She explained that for years she had been obese - more than 110 pounds over-weight and attributed Weight Watchers Program in saving her life. She further described how the Weight Watchers plan worked and how it changes your views toward food and eating. We left with starter packets in hand and our first assignment - to read food labels before eating.
That was two years ago and I'm proud to say that my sister and I reached our goal weights and have kept most of the weight off. The difference with this program and a diet is you know exactly why you've gained or regained your weight and how to start or restart your personalized Weight Watchers program to lose it again, if you choose. I've since loss the small amount of weight I'd gained back and proud to say I did it on my own. I now know that I need not deprive myself to lose weight but to live life with food as a support system, not a main focus. I've even had the occasional biscuits with gravy as a flex points treat.
Overall, the Weight Watchers Program has stood the test of time and in my opinion it's a great way to change eating habits and begin a healthier lifestyle. Stairs are no longer my enemy but a wonderful ally in my fitness program.
