Fear of Wealth: Helpful Ways to Overcome it

DJG08
Everyone, at one time or another, has marveled at the fortunes that millionaires have acquired. Granted, some have come into money through their family tree, but a good many have done it the hard way: they went out and found it. Some would say that the correct term to use there is earned, and in a sense they may be right, but finding wealth is just as important as earning it. And in most cases, that is where the fear factor comes from.

There is no preset criteria for becoming wealthy. Almost anyone can achieve wealth if they can overcome whatever obstacles are in their path. How many roadblocks a person has on the path indicates the determination level they will need to succeed. This is the first form of the fear of wealth, being scared of failure. One might look at his surroundings and determine "there is no way I can become wealthy having to start out handicapped by my current financial situation". So, they simply settle for the "too much month at the end of the money" routine and struggle to survive.

There are others that can do with stretching a paycheck till the next and are content in that lifestyle but would like to have more. Unfortunately, to get more would require the effort of changing how they are living their lives financially. It might mean they would have to give up a certain aspect of their lifestyle, be it a night out to the movies or dining out too much, to invest that money back into themselves in their savings or venturing into the stock market. The old adage "you have to have a dollar to make a dollar" is the foundation of any financial success story. If you can't save a dollar to make it work for you, it will go someone else to see if they can make it work for them. The factor of fear here is change, to change your lifestyle for better financial gain.

Both types of fear can be overcome, but it depends on the individual with the fear. Rarely will someone come out of the blue and lead you hand in hand away from your fear to a pot of gold, although there are plenty of websites that will claim to do so on the internet. There are some simple steps that can be taken by anyone that desires a better financial lifestyle.

First of all, you have to have a very defined set of goals. Telling yourself, "I'm going to get rich", isn't a very defined goal. On the other hand committing to have one hundred extra dollars in the bank at the end of the month is a realistic and defined goal and is the beginning of the path to financial success. Once you hit that goal, expand on it to the next level.

Secondly, now that you've learned to change your lifestyle, you need to learn a new approach to handling your money. Where and what will you spend this extra money on? It's at this point you might enlist the help of someone with some experience. Seek a mentor that has a proven system in a field of your interest and learn what it takes to make that system work for you.

Once you have a system working for you and you start seeing growth it's time to network with others in the same field of interest or branch out into other fields if it's something your comfortable in learning. Networking gives you the opportunity of offer your service or product to a multitude of more consumers. In return, those in your network will benefit from your customers.

If you are willing to put forth the effort it takes to change and learn, financial well being will follow. And as it grows, resist the fear to take it to the next level with more effort to continue the growth.

As soon as you overcome the fears of becoming wealthy, you will see that the path really wasn't as long as you were afraid it was. By taking action, instead of fearing it, you have started your journey towards personal wealth. As you find more and more of it, take the time to mentor someone else that may have been in your same position and you'll find personal satisfaction to go along with it.
