Fears About the Swine Flu Vaccine from a Mother's Perspective

Concerns and Fears Regarding the Influenza a (H1N1) Monovalent Vaccine Commonly Called the Swine Flu Vaccine

Linda StCyr
Controversy surrounds the swine flu vaccination and there is reason for that controversy. I have not decided whether my family and I should receive the swine flu vaccination to prevent the H1N1 virus. As a mother, I need the facts before I decide on such a drastic measure as a vaccination. When my children had to get vaccinated to attend public school, I went through everything I could find on the vaccines. I read about MMR, the measles, mumps and reubella vaccination and how it could possibly be linked to autism. I read about tetanus, hepatitis A & B, diphtheria, pertussis and even more.

My fears regarding the swine flu vaccine are even worse than the fears I had with common childhood vaccinations. After doing tons of research, I am more torn than ever on the subject. I do not want my children to get sick with the swine flu or any illness. I don't want to get sick with it. I also do not want to risk my children's health by getting a vaccination that has terrible side effects. The question I ask myself is this, do the benefits of the swine flu shot outweigh the risks associated with the vaccine itself?

Fears of the Swine Flu Vaccine: The Side Effects of the Vaccine Meant to Prevent H1N1

After doing plenty of research, I found a list of the possible side effects of the swine flu vaccine. Here are the ones that concern me most: Blood and lymphatic disorders, Guillain-Barré Syndrome, Paralysis (including Bell's Palsy), Stevens-Johnson syndrome, Febrile convulsions, Urticaria, Nervous system disorders, and the big one taken directly from the Influenza A (H1N1) Monovalent Vaccine manufactured by Novartis, "In rare cases, hypersensitivity reactions have lead to anaphylactic shock and death."

All of the side effects can be found listed at the Bird Flu Pandemic website.

Fears of the Swine Flu Vaccine: The Side Effects of H1N1 Vaccine Coming to Pass

During my research of the swine flu vaccine, I came across several videos of those who have been negatively affected by regular flu vaccines and by the swine flu vaccine that was released in 1976.

The first was a young girl, a former Washington Redskins cheerleader, who had wanted to prevent herself from getting a nasty flu. 10 days after receiving her vaccination she started experiencing some terrible issues and now cannot walk without jerky, rigid movements unless she walks backward. The video aired on Inside Edition and you can see it here on YouTube.

The next video was sent to me via FaceBook by a friend who has similar concerns about the swine flu vaccine. The video is a 16 minute clip from CBS "60 Minutes", a television show that many tune into for news and events around the world. In this video the Swine Flu Epidemic of 1976 is discussed and a young woman who experienced the negative side effects of the vaccine discusses her situation and why she was suing the government. The video was aired only once and then never aired on television again. The video can be found here at Daily Motion Video: Swine Flu of 1976 Propaganda if you wish to view it yourself.

These two video's along with the rest of the information I have gathered and the insert taken directly from the swine flu vaccine package insert leave me wondering if this is really a necessary vaccine. My fears of taking the H1N1 vaccine have not been diminished and I am not convinced that this drug will work any better than taking the regular flu vaccine.

Will you be taking the Influenza A (H1N1) Monovalent Vaccine? What are your fears and concerns about the swine flu? Do the side effects outweigh the benefits of the swine flu vaccination? Express your thoughts in the comment section below.
