Featured Contributor in the Et Cetera Category

I Have a Dream

Pattie Byrd
I want to be a Featured Contributor for Associated Content. I'm either not ambitious enough or clever enough to win any of those badges and awards, and I think my page looks kind of barren with just that "8" up there. That "8" has been there quite a while because although the climb from 1 to 7 goes fairly quickly, that hill up to "9" is a mountain.

Toward that end, I started looking through the list of Featured Contributor opportunities to see where I should apply. Well, I can eliminate automotive, crafts and dating right off the bat because I don't deal in oil and glue if possible, and I haven't dated in 40 years. Beauty, business and dieting are out, too. I don't even have to explain that one. Let's see, what does that leave? Diseases, fitness and education, I really think that should probably be all one category anyway. Video, sports, travel. I think I'm running out of options. I'm beginning to feel like a red-haired stepchild here.

Wait a minute. What about Arts and Entertainment? Let me look at that one. That's usually where humor is listed. Category includes music, theater, film, etc. Hmm. I don't see humor listed, but maybe I qualify under etc. I think I've finally found my niche -- et cetera.

Okay. I wonder if AC will let me be a featured contributor in Et Cetera. I like that idea. I looked up et cetera in the dictionary, and Mr. Random House said it means "like others of a sort." I can handle that that. I've been a part of "others" before.

Since Et Cetera is one of those mysterious terms that just refers to an assortment of other things, I can cover all kinds of things with a humorous slant. I really like that. That's what I do now. For instance, I've got interviews of non-famous people and Aunt Lottie gallivanting around getting into trouble while I'm rambling about an odd assortment of things. That might fall under Et Cetera.

Of course, I can throw some "et cetera's" in my article somewhere each time so I'll be sure to stay true to my category. What an exciting idea. It'll make all those people happy that have always prophesized that I was an odd duck, etc., etc., etc.

With an article like this, you deserve the title. I'd love to read more of your writing.

    Great article =)

They should let you do it. After all, there are lots of little categories that don't fit the narrow subject matter for F/Cs.

I think it's a wonderful idea. Shall I nominate you?

Great idea! I'm an A&E FC, but all I know how to do is the Et Cetera. So, you can be sure I'll be losing that little title before too long....

Too funny and I would say that you deserve it!
