Featured in Walgreen's Black Friday Ad the Venturer 10 In. LCD Digital TV: A Review

A Low Cost Digital LCD Television that Looks Good in Any Room of the House

JW Price
Flat panel television technology has become more and more affordable the past few years. Because of this consumers are starting to take this technology out of the living room and into the bedroom and kitchen. Thanks to the reasonable pricing and their space saving benefits we'll likely see small sized LCD televisions become one of the more popular items this holiday season. One such television is the 10 inch Venturer LCD digital TV. This television will be featured in Walgreen's black Friday sales add for nearly 40% off at $99.99 after a $20 mail in rebate. I have gotten my hands on one of these TV's and I'm going to let you know how great of a deal this little LCD really is.

Product Overview:

The first thing people may as when it comes to this television is who exactly is Venturer? Do I want to trust this product? Well, Venturer has been around since 1998 mainly selling low cost consumer electronics. In fact they were the first to offer a full sized CD stereo player for under $100. They have an easy to navigate website at http://www.venturer.com and a 1-800 consumer hotline should there be any problems with your product. They have an established line of handheld DVD players as well as larger sized LCD televisions. So that being said don't let the company's name worry you.

This attractive LCD television comes framed with glossy black plastic and the speakers are mounted on either side of its 10" screen. The smooth black bezel is only briefly interrupted by the manufactures name at the center of the bottom frame. It comes with a nice solid base that elevates the televisions off the counter. The picture is as good as any available in its class. I was concerned about the sound in such a small sized budget television but the sound isn't tinny as I expected. It is relatively full even at high volumes.

This digital television would be great for a kid's room, in the kitchen or even on the road as it is small enough it would travel great in a large van or camper. DVD's look especially good on this digital display.

Product Value:

It is hard to ever say anything negative about a flat panel television that is priced under $100. You always need to keep in mind that age old adage you get what you pay for, however in this case you may just be getting a little more. This 10" Venturer TV is likely going to please anyone that has limited counter space in the kitchen or in the bedroom. Shoot for under $100 I'd put one in the bathroom too, that way you'll never miss a thing.

I bought this at the Black Friday sale at Walgreens. I also bought a $20 antenna at Walmart and, once you find the best place for the antenna, it works great. I keep this in my office. But 12 months later the remote quit working, even after changing batteries. I contacted the company via e-mail and still response after 3 weeks. I see I can buy a replacement, for about $20 + shipping, quite a steep price in comparision to the TV. Since the company isn't responsive why would I give them more money?

I bought mine around 8 months ago from Walgreens and I'm searching to see if I can get another one!! I use it mainly in the kitchen, but always take it with me to the camper trailer so TV can be seen outside too and family enjoys the outside without having to move the bigger TV outside. It is excellent, great colors, very very light. Certainly you have to scan to locate the local channels as all TV's need since Feb09 whe you change locations or want to see a specific channel which is not añigned with the others, just as we used to do before cable!! So much for tecnology and digitalization, but it is NOT the TV's fault!
    I recomend it 100%!

i bought the Venturer 10 inch "digital" LCD from Walgreens in January and hooked it up to my UHF/VHF rooftop antenna. it gets nothing but analog signals. I know the antenna picks up digital signals because my other TV (equipped with converter)gets digital signals just fine. I emailed my complaint to Venturer a week or two ago and have not received a response.

I bought this TV on Black Friday based on Mr. Price's review. When I got the TV home, it did not work. The problem turned out to be a bad remote. It took two-and-a-half months to get a new remote from Venturer, but I am now very happy with this little TV. It is the perfect size for my home office. I have cable TV so do not need to worry about the antenna.

Venturer 10 Inch LCD Digital TV:

I purchased mine from Walgreens (before they went on sale) and am absolutely satisfied with it.

But I should caution that if you will be using this unit to receive local digital broadcasts you will need nothing less than a medium size, rotating UHF antenna on your roof. And I live in a major metropolitan area. Those cheap tabletop UHF antennas simply lack the ability to pull in local broadcasts at an acceptable quality level and you'll be wasting your time. I've been using my analog television for years, with this rooftop rig, so the changeover was effortless. And digital broadcasts, with a rotating rooftop antenna, are so good that they will probably put the cable TV companies out of business, at least in the major metropolitan areas.

If you already have a cable TV setup, or an analog-to-digital converter box with antenna, that is already successfully receiving television broadcasts, then you're good to go.

The unit also works quite well a
