One of the most profound features of the iPhone is its touch screen controls. The entire iPhone interface is controlled by a touch screen and can allow you to do things you never thought possible on a mobile phone.
iPhone - Mobile Phone
No longer will you have to remember speed dial codes or repeatedly press a button to find a contact in your phone. The iPhone's new touch screen lets you make a call simply by touch a contacts name. The iPhone can also be sync your contacts from a Mac, PC, or internet site such as yahoo or Google. This way your iPhone can be kept up-to-date with your latest contact information. With your iPhone you can also create a favorites list for your most frequent calls. The iPhone also makes it easy to merge calls together to create conference calls.
One of the many cool features on the iPhone is what Apple calls visual voicemail. No longer do you have to sit through countless voicemails and waste time deleting them just to get to the one you need to here. The iPhone gives you a visual list of all your voicemails and who they are from. You can then use the phone's' touch screen to pick and chose what voicemails you want to listen to.
The iPhone has also created an outstanding touch screen keyboard that works better than most small plastic keyboards on today's top of the line smart phones. The iPhone's on screen keyboard is easy to use and will prevent and correct mistakes while you are typing. The iPhone also has a calendar program that can by synced with your Mac, PC, or internet based calendar.
The iPhone also features a 2 Mega pixel camera. The iPhone's camera and photo software are incomparable to anything on the market today. The iPhone user can sync their photo album from a PC or Mac and simply browse through their photos with the flick of a finger.
iPhone - Widescreen iPod
The iPhone has created a stunning visual interface for its widescreen iPod. The iPhone lets users scroll and search for their favorite music using the iPhone's touch screen. The newest and most unique way to search for music on the iPhone is a feature that shows you album covers and allows you to flip through them using the iPhone's amazing touch screen interface.
This album cover software on the iPhone is called Cover Flow. When searching through music on your iPhone you are automatically taken to cover flow simply by turning your iPhone into the landscape position.
The iPhone features a large 3.5 inch screen for watching movies and TV shows downloaded via the iTunes store. The iPhone lets users enjoy anything the can get from the iTunes store. If you can download it from iTunes you can see, hear, or use it on your iPhone.
iPhone - Internet Communication
The iPhone is a fully multi-tasking internet device. What does this mean? It means that with the iPhone you can be accessing your email in the background while your surf a webpage in the foreground. The iPhone has rich HTML so it can show you your emails text and graphics all at the same time.
iPhone has created a partnership with Yahoo Mail that lets all iPhone users have their email "pushed" to their iPhone. Along with Yahoo the iPhone should work with all major email clients.
The iPhone uses Apples web browsing software, Safari, to let you see WebPages they way they were designed. This means that you see WebPages on your iPhone the same way you would see them online. Then you can simply use the iPhone's touch screen to zoom in a scroll certain sections of the webpage. You can hold your iPhone in the vertical position to see the whole webpage and then turn it in the landscape position to get more reading room. The iPhone has sensors that know how you are holding the iPhone and changes the screen automatically.
As you can imagine you can also sync your web book mars with the iPhone. The iPhone will connect over any WiFi connection.
The iPhone also has a special feature that connects it with Google maps. This sounds like a cool feature to me, but until the iPhone has GPS built into it I'm not too impressed with this feature.
iPhone - Advanced Technology
The iPhone puts any of today's smart phones to shame. The iPhone has many of the sensors that its relative, the iBook has. Such as an accelerometer, a proximity sensor and an ambient light sensor. These all help make the iPhone user experience better and help the iPhone battery last longer.
What is an accelerometer you ask? Well this helps the iPhone figure out when the user switches the iPhone from landscape to portrait and then adjust the content accordingly.
The iPhone's proximity sensors know when you put the iPhone up to your ear and then turns off the iPhones screen to help prevent any unwanted touches to the screen while in use.
The iPhone's ambient light sensor adjusts the screens brightness based on the amount of ambient light.
iPhone - Availability
According to Apple the iPhone will be released in the US in June 2007. The iPhone will be released in a 3 Gig version for $499 and an 8 Gig for $599. The iPhone will use Cingular service and Cingular will be releasing iPhone packages in the near future.
The iPhone will be available at Apple store and websites as well as at Cingular locations.
