February 20 - Hoodie Hoo Day

Hoodie Hoo Day - Northern Hemisphere

JUNEANN REED
February 20 is Hoodie Hoo Day in the northern hemisphere.

What is "that" you say? Read on to find out how to Hoodie Hoo[t] and challenge old man winter's naughtiness.

Because this year of wintry blasts has closed streets and schools, set schedules amiss, and been the cause of many fender benders we're ready for fun. We heard the oranges in Florida turned into frozen OJ - while still on the trees and our capitol building was dark - leaders were unable to make helpful political decisions. Besides that - people are just down-right cranky!

Hoodie Hoo Day will spring up to the top on holiday lists this year. Trust me!

Why, because most of us are ready to do anything to chase away the problems and even just the dumpy feelings caused by too much snow and gray stuff.

YOUR INVITATION TO HOODIE HOO DAY:

When: February 20

Time: High noon - whatever your own time zone

Where: Outside

Why: Chase winter far away

What to do: Extend your arms straight out above your head. Wave them around rapidly while doing your favorite little dance and chanting "Hoodie Hoo." To make your celebration even more fun, don hats or wear masks or silly outfits. The arm and shouting action are absolutely necessary for a successful Hoodie Hoo[t].

While you're doing all these crazy things, have cameras available for great shots. You will want to record the memories of this fun and funny day. Maybe you could even call the local news media - if they are having a slow news day - they may want to come and join you in your appeal for the appearance of spring.

This would be a great noon time event for everyone from toddlers to seniors. We've all been cooped up too long and are ready to get out and enjoy some outdoor fun. Let Hoodie Hoo Day be the beginning of hoped-for sunny and warm days.

Sorry to say, it may not work as planned and your local weather folks may tell you that more snow storms are coming. But your office, classroom senior group or shop people can just grab a snack and laugh it off as you look at those crazy Hoodie Hoo Day pics posted on your bulletin boards.
