February 28 - Public Sleeping Day

Public Sleeping Day, nationally celebrated on February 28 sounds like a great day to me.

For one, it could be a great time to host a fun pajama party. Kids could wear their pjs and be ready for the beloved sleep-over. Adults could host a "costume" party. We know what some folks' pjs consist of so I'd make sure they understand to "wear" a costume. After all, it is "Public Sleeping Day."

Games could include guessing songs with the words sleep or sleepy or good night or something pertaining to sleep. A nightmare could be fun by passing around foods that would feel like the description of the nightmare. For example, wet noodles, jello, something slimy, something rough, something cold, something crunchy. Pillow cases could be decorated and exhibited.

Any color could make a good theme for this February 28 holiday. Masks could be used to pretend attendees are asleep. Think of foods that we snack on prior to bedtime. I'm thinking most anything in the frig, cereal, chips and cookies. Set your lights on "dim" setting and maybe some glow in the dark necklaces would be fun.

If you decide you'd rather steal a few winks at work, on a park bench, while waiting for a stop light or while waiting for someone at the mall on the national Public Sleeping Day, be careful. Try to remember it's only a few winks and not a full-blown nap. Or is it?

Me, I think those vibrating chairs that offer you a few minutes sampling of how relaxed you could be, would be my choice. I'd simply put my feet up, my head back, wind my purse around my arm and close my eyes in thanks. If I'm awakened, I'd just ask them to let me continue celebrating. "Don't you know it's the day to celebrate Public Sleeping Day?" I'd say.

Whatever you do on February 28, if someone catches you napping - just tell them you are, indeed, celebrating a national event.

Enjoy!

February 28 - National Public Sleeping Day - can be a day of celebration and fun. Host a party or take a nap in public. Just be sure it's a few winks and not a full-blown siesta.
