American social critic, Nobel Prize winner (1930) and novelist Sinclair Lewis (Arrowsmith, Babbitt, Cass Timberlane, Dodsworth, Elmer Gantry, It Can't Happen Here, Kingsblood Royal, Main Street and World So Wide) was born on February 7, 1908. Sinclair Lewis won the Pulitzer Prize in 1925, but he refused it. Sinclair Lewis was married to journalist Dorothy Thompson.

British Chancellor and author Sir Thomas More (A Dialogue of Comfort Against Tribulation, History of Richard III, Treatise on the Passion and Utopia) was born on February 7, 1478. Thomas More was martyred in 1535 (under orders of British King Henry VIII) and sainted in 1886 by Pope Leo XIII. The classic drama A Man for All Seasons, by Robert Bolt, was based on the life of Sir Thomas More.

Gay Talese, American author (Fame and Obscurity, Honor Thy Father, The Kingdom and the Power, Origins of a Nonfiction Writer, Thy Neighbor's Wife, Unto the Sons and A Writer's Life), was born on February 7, 1932.
