February Gardening Tips for Houston, Texas

February is a time of new beginnings for your Houston, Texas garden. Spring will begin to blossom at the end of February, so there is much to be done. Now is the time to fertilize, prune, plant, and take care of other garden chores. Some flowers and bulbs are ready to be planted, while others will even begin to bloom. Below are some February gardening tips for your Houston, Texas garden.

Seeds to be sown. Plant the following seeds in the open ground or in flats in February in your Houston, Texas garden.

Sweet Alyssum
. Plant this pretty annual in full sun to partial shade in February in your Houston, Texas garden. It will bloom in the fall all the way through the following spring with pink, purple and white flowers. This annual is hardy and usually survives the winter without issue. Sweet Alyssum is a great choice for containers and mixed borders.

Blanket Flower
