If you have a special occasion and want to impress, the Federal Grille, in Lighthouse Point is a nice place to go. If you really love good food, this is the place to go. The location is on Federal Highway, thus the name and it's is in a strip mall type area, but a nice looking strip area. What it lacks in street appeal it makes up for inside though.

This is a large room, with low light and very nice ambience. There is a quietness about the room. The Grille is a little more of a high end eatery. You can get lunch or dinner in a variety of prices.

Lunch can be a delicious Lobster Bisque at $9.00 for a good size serving of this creamy , stunningly good soup. They also offer New England Clam Chowder or Onion soup. These are less expensive but my favorite is the Bisque. Lunch can be a Seared Tuna Sandwich with Wasabi Mayonaisse for $14.00 or Slow Roasted Turkey Club, $11.00 on PIta.

You can opt out on the sandwiches and choose from a delightful assortment of salads. These run $14.00 and up and offer Seared Sea Scallops, Steak Gorgonzola or Ceasar Salad with or without Chicken Steak or Salmon. They offer a Two for One Menu and you can get Grilled Chicken, Black Angus Burger, Tuna Salad, Egg Salad or a Trio salad spread (Tuna, Egg, Chicken Salad) and you'll be in the $7.00 to $12.00 range.

Federal Grille offers a $25.00 dinner club menu where you get a choice of Onion Soup, Ceasar or Spinach /Romaine, Arugula Salads, Black Angus Sirloin Steak, Salmon, Rack of Pork RIbs (full), DIjon Mustard Chicken Breast or Linguine with White Clam Sauce. You get two sides and dessert with this. This is a huge amount of very good foods for a very reasonable price. These are all gourmet in quality.

Some of the excellent offerings for dinner include a delightful, authentic Chimichurri Skirt Steak with fresh corn cakes and Jicama Salad ($11.00) as a starter, Try the unusual Mushroom Goat Cheese Strudel if you love Goat Cheese (9.00) . Unusual ingredients are mixed with your every day basic foods kicking them all up a notch. The Chef is very creative.

Your main course can be any of the fabulous gourmet combinations, unusual, delicious and relatively inexpensive considering the qualiaty of the meal you are getting. You can choose Ancho Barbeque Baby Back RIbs with Sweet Potato Okra Corn Hash ($18.00) or Miso Chilean Sea Bass with Scallion Zucchini Pancake ($29.00). The sides are so unusual and such taste feasts, Curry Chili Glaze, Stir Fry Glass Noodles with Peanut Sauce and more are all crowd pleasers. There is something for every palate, even vegetarian.

If you are a strictly steak and potato guy there is a good assortment of steaks, your Rib Eye, Filet Mignon or New York Strip are all here.

This is a really wonderful place to eat if you have a good sense of taste, like interesting creations and don't mind spending a little money. It is not overly expensive and the level of food is exquisite.

Parking is easy. Service is excellent. Ambiance is pleasant. Wheelchair accessible.
