Fedor Vs Brett Rogers November 7

John Locke
On November 7 the mixed martial arts world shall stand still to witness the top heavyweight fighter in the world, Fedor Emelianenko, at work against the undefeated striker Brett "the Grim" Rogers (10-0). This event will be promoted by Strikeforce and M1-Global and will be televised live on CBS.

Fedor Emelianenko looks to prove yet again his superiority in the mixed martial arts world after poor performance of Tim Sylvia and Andrei Arlovski, both of whom got KOed by weak opponents months after they lost to the Last Emperor. Will the defeat of Brett Rogers silence the critics which have been growing ever since he left Pride to fight in smaller promotions? I think a stunning victory over Rogers would help but unless the guy fights the current UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar, he will never be unanimously accepted as the top pound for pound fighter.

Does Fedor really need to be the #1 on the pound for pound charts? After all you have to fight often and you have to fight the cream of the best fighters in the world. I am not convinced that it is his obligation to do so. Perhaps he just feels that he is so far more superior than anybody out there at the moment in his division that he does not need to work as an employee for that foul mouthed Dana White and sell out to the UFC like many of the other guys have done before him.

Fedor has plenty of decent fights for him in Strikeforce. You've got Brett Rogers, a dangerous striker with a clean record for a warm up. Then the BJJ wizard Fabricio Werdum, the 2009 +99kg ADCC champion and a very formidable opponent if not quite in the top-10 heavyweight list in the world. If that was not enough, Strikeforce HW champion Alistair Overeem could be a nice fight that many would be keen to see.

Apart from these standard fights, Strikeforce can put together a whole bunch of other events with Fedor on the card. You've got Jeff Monson, who looks like a monster and believes that he is the guy to beat Fedor. Then you've got Roger Gracie - perhaps the best jiu jitsu specialist who ever lived. There are plenty of other exciting matches you can create and let the public enjoy. If Strikeforce does well to promote its fights and gain the television rights, they could become a serious competitor for the UFC. Not doubt.

The other fights are no less exciting too.

-Fedor "The Last Emperor" Emelianenko vs. Brett "The Grim" Rogers

-Jake Shields vs. Jason "Mayhem" Miller (Middleweight Title Fight)

-Gegard "The Dreamcatcher" Mousasi vs. Rameau Thierry "The African Assassin" Sokoudjo

-Fabricio "Vai Cavalo" Werdum vs. Antonio "Big Foot" Silva

You have so rising stars here. Jason "Mayhem" Miller in addition to being an awesome fighter is also a great showman which is something that the UFC does not have and something that Pride did have and made a great success out of.

With Strikeforce Betting Odds at -600 ML for Russia's Fedor Emelianenko against Brett Rogers +400 ML it is hard not to bet for Brett Rogers and many will. Fedor Emelianenko though with his clean record is yet to prove that he really is human after all. All eyes on this match in November..
