Garden Harvest
Garden Harvest is a nonprofit organization with a mission to alleviate hunger and improve nutrition to the less fortunate, worldwide. Through Garden Harvest you and I can donate a farm animal that will produce milk and eggs to a needy family.
Donate a Flock of Chickens
Donating a flock of chickens is very inexpensive, yet provides tremendous help to those in need. When donating a flock of mature hens, there are approximately 12 hens and one rooster in each flock. Chickens lay an egg every day in the summer and average an egg every other day throughout the year. That means one chicken can produce 182 eggs in a year. 12 chickens will produce approximately 2,184 eggs a year. Give the gift of the incredible edible egg, to a hungry family.

- Donate a flock of 25 baby chicks for $50
- Donate a flock of mature hens, already laying eggs for $100
Donate a Lamb
Some breeds of sheep produce excellent milk in addition to wool. Sheep's milk is ideal for producing cheese and butter as it has a high butterfat content. Did you realize sheep can produce one gallon of milk a day in addition to 12 pounds of wool in a single season?
- Donate a lamb (3 month old sheep) for $100
- Donate a share of a lamb for $25
Donate a Goat
Did you know that a dairy goat will produce up to three quarts of milk a day? Garden Harvest places the mature, lactating goats with the poorest of families that are in need of milk.
- Donate a mature dairy goat for $400
- Donate a share of a mature dairy goat for $100
- Donate a kid goat for $100
Donate a Cow
The female cow can produce between two and four gallons of milk each day. By giving a cow you are giving milk to a family in need.
- Donate a female cow (heifer) for $500
Donate an Ox With Plow
Ox can produce milk and manure and oxen pull wagons loaded with crops.
- Donate an ox with plow for $600
When considering donating to a charity, consider donating a farm animal to give the gift of food. The things we take for granted such as milk and eggs are a rarity for some. By donating a farm animal you are giving the gift of a pet while giving the gift of food.

Love the idea and thanks for sharing. Until today I have never heard about any of these.
What a novel idea for charity. Thanks for sharing!
Last year for Christmas, we gave our Godchild a Goat. Not a real one, we donated it to a family overseas through this organization called Samaritan's Purse. cheers
I love this idea. Who would have thought there were several unique ways to help out those in need. This will be bookmarked for later use and support.
