Feed was a book I lost sleep over - I just couldn't put it down to go to bed at night! What an interesting portrayal of what the zombie apocalypse would be like 25 years later. There are pop culture references that many of the characters don't understand that most people who pick up this book would love. One of the characters is blond and hunts zombies, so she calls herself Buffy - no one else understands! George Romero is hailed as a hero of his time, having prepared the world for the zombies to attack, and Steve Irwin lives on through the adventurous bloggers who call themselves Irwins and compete for Golden Steve-o Awards.

Ms. Grant's writing is spotless, and she shifts through quoting the main characters' blogs and the narrative without a hitch. Her storytelling is concise - you never wonder what happened in a scene, because you've just watched a movie in your head. She tackles social issues that zombie movies usually don't with a flare that really makes you see the world you live in now transformed to the world Georgia and Shaun grew up in. How will the zombie apocalypse affect the next generation? Read this and see!

Feed is also a play on words, which tickled my inner English Major. The cover of the book and the headings of the chapters have the symbol used to RSS feeds on them, but it also clearly refers to the zombies. Zombies aren't so much the theme of the book as they are an environmental factor, which is handled very well in Grant's writing.

If you're a fan of speculative fiction, then I suggest picking up this book. I add SciFi and Horror to the genre because it is about zombies, but since the science and zombies are environmental I feel that we're closer to speculative with this book. I'd welcome your feedback!
