Feeding Your Baby: Breast or Bottle?

My big question is why? Why if you had the courage, tolerance, strength and so needed love to carry your baby for nine months, you want to give up and feed him formula? Don't you think all those hurtful nights full of back pain and heartburn where in vain if all the sudden you decide to not care enough for your baby once it pops out of you? Even if you think your breast are going to fall or that the first week of breastfeeding pain is just too hard to bear, don't you think the little one that you have been caring for in your belly deserves at least a couple months of that unique nourishment you can give him by feeding him your breast milk?

Honestly women, God not just gave you the opportunity to give such wonderful nourishment to your baby for nothing, there is no best formula, and no man made nutrient that can even get close to the amount of nutrients you can produce on your own.

I breastfeed and even though the first time I had a baby I was sure I would only feed him for six months (because I didn't want to risk having saggy breast), once I started I could just feel how thankful he was when his little face would look for my breast and thankfully open his little mouth excited after he finally found it. There is nothing that can make me feel better but that sensation of knowing I am being a good mother, and that my little one is not only getting food but feeling the ultimate protection.

How can you take that feeling away from him and yourself? I know talking is easy and you may be living that first week when your nipples barely have skin left and you may even be bleeding. You may be on the stage when knowing that your baby will wake up in an hour and a half to eat is horrifying just to know that you will have to suffer that pain again. All I have to tell you is "relax". The pain does go away and you don't have to wait more than two weeks for it to happen, and you also know that meanwhile that pain is only strong when he starts eating but it fades after a minute or so. Hang in there for you and the baby, don't give up because it is worth it.

If my argument doesn't sound so convincing yet, think about the perks. Would you like to lose a bunch of weight just by laying in your bed or couch for about twenty minutes every two or four hours? How about the convenience of not having to worry about milk going bad when you go out or heating it before feeding your baby? Even Better, who doesn't like unlimited free food. So if you are pregnant, or already have your baby, consider breastfeeding. At the end you will be very happy about making that decision. Make your baby strong and help him have the best immune system by feeding him your own milk. It is up to you to decide if you want the best for your little one.
