Feeding Old Gray Cats

Shirley A Mandel

Lord,

you don't just use the big shots of the world

to do great things,

but you use us little guys too.

And everything that you put in my hands to do

has equal importance;

everything from writing portry that can reach the world

to sweeping floors for Mom

to feeding the old gray cats.

You did say that if we

"just give a cup of cold water

to the least of your little ones,

we will not lose our reward."

Jesus, you have called me

to feed the old gray cats

who keep begging at my door,

and it is a wonderful thing,

They live because of me,

and it is a wonderful thing to behold.

And that is reward enough for me.

Shirley, I think you know that my cousin died recently - she was 57 yrs old. She was disabled and lived alone w/ her little dogs and she fed the stray cats in the neighborhood. I often wonder what happened to all the cats she fed. I pray someone has picked up where she left off. Cheers, my friend :)
