Feel Good Friday!... On Thursday

It's Week #4

Catherine Spencer
Welcome back to "Feel Good Friday!"...on Thursday! I'll be 'on the road' tomorrow, traveling south to Alabama so have to publish today. The stories and comments shared for these articles make my heart happy. AC is definitely full of good - very good people! As you go through the next week concentrate on trying to make the world a better place to live. Share your 'goodness' with those you come into contact with each day. I hope this week's "Feel Good Friday!" makes you feel happy.

An old proverb says, "The smallest good deed is better than the grandest intention."

This week we have stories of good deeds from two of AC's favorite poets. Veteran AC Contributor David A. Reinstein, LCSW, has written for AC since May 2007 with over 1000 pieces of content. His amazing poetry gives readers food for thought, making all of us feel 'good!' He writes:

"My wife was suddenly hospitalized and I have been living there with her for a week - both pre- and post-surgery. Let's hear it for the nurses, doctors and aids who make medical healing their business! She will be well, thanks to them. They are amongst those we should not take for granted."

None of us should take the love of a spouse for granted, either. I'm sure David's love and devotion as he sat at his wife's side will help with her recovery. They're both in our thoughts and prayers!

This week I heard from Diane Zoller-Ciato, aka JerseyNana, who became an AC Contributor in August 2009. Diane's poetry has made its mark on the AC community. Her daily poems are a treat to read! Here's her good deed:

"I belong to the Columbiettes, the female branch of the Knights of Columbus. They sponsor holiday activities for children. My oldest grandkids live close enough to take them, but they are in high school and way too old for Easter bunny stuff. My three little girls live in Maryland, so I had the chance to take my sister and her three grandsons who are 11, 4 and 2. We had a very nice time, they had coloring, crafts, and games to play, then an Easter egg hunt and a visit from the Easter bunny. There was a raffle for five Easter baskets and they were lucky enough to win two of them. It truly made me happy that I belong to this wonderful organization and could share some fun with both my sister and her grandboys!"

As I get older it seems my patience with people, especially those in service jobs, is getting worse. I often remind myself of this saying, "Give others a piece of your heart, not a piece of your mind." It really helps!

If you'd like to share a story of goodness with others, to put a smile on their faces, please let me know.
