"Feelin' Good" About Adam Lambert's American Idol Performance

Demetria Dixon
Birds flying high, you know how I feel
Sun in the sky, you know how I feel
Breeze drifting on by, you know I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life for me
And I'm feelin' good

And I'm feelin' good about Adam Lambert's chances on American Idol. With that opening verse Adam Lambert set the standard for American Idol to an all time high. In arguably the best entrance, ever, on American Idol, Adam strutted down American Idols grand staircase and stole the show. Wearing a beautiful white suit with matching tie over a black shirt, Adam was the epitome of the rat pack. Sharp and pristine. Where David Cook got shot down for self indulgence for his white "Sergeant Pepper 's Lonely Heart's Club Band" jacket , Adam pulled off an entire white suit with confidence and aplomb.

Adam could not have chosen a better version of "Feelin' Good" to pattern his rendition after. The Muse version is not only rhythmically sophisticated but it's got an epic arrangement that is a perfect backdrop for Adam's equally epic vocal skills.

The Muse arrangement does give a nod to the Nina Simone version of the song, which exists in my mind as the most heartfelt and harrowing of all the renditions.

There is something about Adam's voice that always makes me think of Jim Morrison. There's a slinky sensuality in each note.

Adam Lambert is an incredible talent. It's hard to believe he hadn't already taken the world by storm. Not only is he a consummate artist but he is a performer par excellence. His chameleon like ability to shape himself into whatever is required as well as his complete commitment to the character and the performance.

Adam's over the top theatricality sometimes takes the focus off the song. However, he always puts on a show worth seeing. Part of the fun of watching this years Idol is waiting to see what Adam Lambert will pull off.

Adam's appearance in the finale is a forgone conclusion. Per a poll on rickey.org, Adam's popularity index is at 45%. That is 21 percentage points over his closest competitor, Kris Allen who has a popularity index of 24%.

Whether Adam becomes the American Idol or not, his success is already assured. He has the skills, the moxie, the confidence and the stage presence to perform for anyone, anytime. Perhaps Jamie Foxx, who was this weeks mentor, said it best when he told Adam, "You don't even care who I am".

Adam is a theatrical & overrated, I hope he loses.

I agree with Markie as for those splitting their votes because they like to choose who will be in the finals with Adam. It's all because of complacency thinking Adam is secure and safe. We should be voting for Adam only for the AI crown. Because that's what the fans of Allison, Kris and Danny are doing. Danny has the Christian block supporting him all the way. Kris' fans also gather in groups every Tuesday night simultaneously voting for him 2 hours continuously. Allison has enough fans for her own support to catapult her into the finals if they really want to without help from Adam's fans. It's quite admirable for Adam's fans to share their votes. But just think that only Adam's fans do that while Danny's and Kris' are united blocks. I also read senior citizens fans of Adam voting with 2 phones 5 times. PLEASE, keep on voting for 2 hours. If we like what Adam gives us every week, let's reciprocate by our full force of votes next Tuesday till the end. VOTE FOR ADAM only! No vote split

Rise America,!!! You know who should win! Admiring him, praising him, loving his song, listening to his song all over & over, sobbing upon learning he was in bottom three won't make him win. You gotta get up & VOTE VOTE VOTE.. Thats the only thing that will make him win.
Forget about "I want Adam/Kris , or Adam/danny or Adam/Alison in the finals". Just ADAM IN THE FINALS. This is the reason why he almost got voted off-because of splitting the votes. Remember those haters are trying hard to put more votes to other contestants because they hated Adam for being sooo good!

Get to voting for Adam...I am 74 and I love to watch him perform....They say a lot of people don't like him, well this is a singing and talent show and who says you would like the others that are in the final 4...We all have our quirks in life....Please keep voting for Adam...He is so wonderful as an entertainer..."Can't wait to buy his cd's.....sure Simon will see he makes one...They need to go back to 3 judges cause Randy don't get to say much....Vote, Vote Vote....for the best.

I don't think that Adam belonged in the bottom 3...Adam has made my Tuesday nights wonderful and kept me home from the casino's...I know this week he will be wonderful, as usual, cause it is rock week.I vote for 2 hours every week and will continue till AI is finished.
We are going to Kansas City to see AI in August and that is to see Adam....
He is a fantastic talent and performer...everyones eyes are on him when he performs...
I hope he makes a cd with all of the AI songs on it, cause I loved ring of fire...all of them actually....Keep voting people if you want the best to win.....

Adam is in a class by himself. It is a joy and a pleasure to watch him perform each week.He is a true artist and everyone that I speak to loves him and watches the show mainly to see him.
Although the drama of last nights elimination added some tension to the results show which they needed, it was still mind boggling to me that Adam was in the bottom three.
The American voters need to wake up. Nothing is guaranteed.I think everyone just assumes Adam will get in.
Adam delivers every week for us, and I think it is time for us to return the favor.
