Feliway Really Works to Calm Pets

We recently moved across the country from Virginia to Oregon. Our biggest concern was our cats. We have three rather neurotic kitties, so every option seemed like a nightmare. We finally decided that we would drive them across with us. We weren't looking forward to the 50 hours of driving and the difficulty of finding pet-friendly hotels, but it looked like the best option. Our vet gave us bottles of sleeping pills as a last resort, but we weren't happy with the idea of drugging them for days.

Then a friend at work recommended Feliway. She said it stopped her cats from spraying in the house, and it made them get along better. It sounded promising, but it was more expensive than I thought it would be. I started asking around, and it turned out that quite a few of our friends had good luck with Feliway in the past. Faced with a daunting drive, we decided to shell out for it.

We sprayed down the cage and the carriers every morning when we put the kitties in. Before we brought them into a hotel room, we sprayed down the entire room first. It was amazing!! Even our Siamese, who is typically very vocal about his unhappiness, was uncharacteristically quiet during the trip. There was always a brief chorus of mewling in the morning when we first got started, but they quieted down and slept most of the day. At night, they would check out the hotel room and settle down quickly.

When we arrived at our new house we sprayed all over before bringing them inside. They adjusted after the first day, and we haven't had to use the product since then. We'll definitely use it for vet visits and traveling in the future, and if we ever need to introduce a new animal to the others, we'll use the Feliway to help the transition.

If you have a nervous, anxious, or belgerent kitty, you should consider trying out Feliway. It's a little pricey, but it worked much better than I thought it would on our cats. I originally figured we were investing in some snake oil, but Feliway's the real deal!
