Felt Christmas Craft

wendy van
December is almost here and it is time to make some wonderful crafts for Christmas. I have some of my favorite felt Christmas craft ideas that I would like to share with you. This is a great time to get the kids involved in the craft too. I know that you will have a lot of fun and also you will be creating wonderful memories together. Many years from now you can talk about the great times that you had while creating these felt Christmas crafts. The first idea that I would like to give to you would be a Christmas Countdown Calendar. This calendar is going to brighten up your home as well as make it an exciting month for the kids. It can also be used as an educational tool for your little ones. They will get to understand what a calendar month is as they get to remove each day until Christmas.

Items that you will need

Glue

Scissors

Christmas coloring book

Velcro (two sided)

Assorted colorful felt

Permanent marker

Wooden dowel

How to make your calendar

The first thing that you are going to do is to decide what size that you want your calendar to be. Cut your felt into a rectangle shape. This is going to be the main part of the calendar. Make it however large that you want your calendar to be.

Cut 25 squares of felt. Make sure that they can fit onto your calendar. These represent the days of the week. Label each square number 1-25.

Take your two-sided Velcro and place one piece on your squares (days of the week) and one piece on your calendar (where you are going to place your days of the week). You have now attached your days of the week to your calendar. Be sure to leave plenty of room at the top of your calendar for pictures that you are going to create in number 4.

Now for the fun part. Take your coloring book and pick out some pictures that you would like to create out of your felt. Make your pictures. These pictures are going to be glued to the top of your calendar. Some fun ideas are candy canes, cookies, gum drops, and even if you are brave enough create Santa Claus. You get to be creative; it is your calendar.

Fold and glue the top of your calendar and insert a dowel stick. Your calendar is now ready to hang.

Another fun idea that I have for you to do with your kids is to create tissue boxes. You can make them as colorful and creative as you would like.

Items that you will need

Tissue box

Assorted colored felt

Glue

Christmas coloring book

Scissors

Ruler

How to make your tissue box

Take your ruler and measure the side of your tissue box and cut four rectangles that size. Glue the rectangles to the tissue box. Now go and do the same for the top of the tissue box. Just make sure to leave room for the whole.

Take your coloring book and create pictures on your felt pieces. Cut them out and glue them to your tissue box.

You now have a treasured item that your children have made. You can keep this for years and years to show it off at the holiday season. Your kids will be so proud of their creation. They will want everyone to see what they have made.

Something else that you can get the kids to help you with is to create a Felt Pen Holder. This will be a nice added decoration to your home for the Christmas season.

Vegetable cans

How to make your Felt Pen Holder

Take some empty vegetable cans and wash them up. Make sure to get rid of the lid.

Get your coloring book and create some pictures out of your felt. Glue these pictures to your cans. You now have a felt pen holder.

I know that this pen holder is going to look great on your office desk or even in your kitchen at home. Your kids will be so proud of their creation. They will feel that they have created something special for you. I know that it is going to cheer up any area that it is in.
