FEMA Camps: Helping the American People in a Time of Crisis or Detention/Concentration Camps?

During my most recent tramp around the World Wide Web I found some very interesting information about FEMA camps. At first the government and its' cronies tried to deny their existence, however this seems to be a mute point. Thanks to the Internet, many an independent journalist has posted everything from government documents to photos of the said camps. There is no denying they are there. But just are these camps designed for? Well officially they are designed to help the American people in a time of crisis, like the Hurricane Katrina incident. However, after viewing the many photos posted on the web I would have to say that this description is funny at best. Have you ever seen a prison? High walls topped off with coils of razor wire complete with tall guard towers at every corner, which's a prison, right? Well that is exactly what these FEMA camps look like.

So why is the government building hundreds, reportedly up to 645, of these "camps" all across the nation? Some believe it is all part of the government's, and the power elite's plan for a New World Order. You would think that if the government, at some time in the future, declared martial law, that they would need some place to put those of us that might not be so complacent about the whole idea. Conspiracy planet puts it like this:

"Ominously, the bill also states that the camps can be used to "meet other appropriate needs, as determined by the Secretary of Homeland Security," an open ended mandate which many fear could mean the forced detention of American citizens in the event of widespread rioting after a national emergency or total economic collapse." Of course you may be one of those people that has complete and total faith in your government and its' desire to only act in the intrest of the people, that's ok. If you are one of these people you can read the official report in:

I'm sure you can find it on several government sites or you can find it complete in articles at Conspiracyplanet.com in the previous mentioned article. However I suggest you do some further research into the subject because the wording of this document lends itself to some interesting interpretations. Kurt Nimmo wrote in an article on infowars.com:

"FEMA, of course, is part of the DHS, so we are mixing apples and oranges here. He also wrote in this same article:

"More than a few have commented that the spanking new KBR camps will be used to house civilian laborers, that is to say slave laborers. Many more have said the camps are for patriots and others who are opposed to an increasingly authoritarian government." (See above information and link)

I also decided, in the name of good journalism, to check with Google Maps to see if they had any information concerning these FEMA camps. Be sure to note the catagory they are listed in, I found this quite humerous. You can see what I found, for yourself, at:

I won't say one way or the other what these camps are really for, but I think it is our right as Americans to know what our government is doing and to ask ourselves why. Feel free to do research of your own and comment with any information or links you come across.
