Female Fertility: Some Causes

What is female infertility and what are its causes? Well, infertility is the inability of a woman to conceive. Female Infertility is very complicated and many causes are linked with it.

Female infertility is more complicated than male infertility. The causes related to female infertility may be general as well as reproductive. Besides this, the life style also has a major role in a women getting conceived.

Talking about the general health, kidney and liver diseases, Thrombophilia (blood clotting problem) can cause female infertility. Certain problems related to the hypothalamic and pituitary glands can cause infertility in women. The problems in these glands lead to the decrease in the production of Luteinizing hormones, which are follicle-stimulating hormones. These hormones are necessary for ovulation and maintaining menstrual cycle, which plays a vital role in female fertility.

Though the problems related to the general health of a woman are not that perplexed, those problems related to the reproductive system are a bit complicated. The problems related to the ovary, where the eggs are produced, are seen to be a major cause of female infertility.

The Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is the most common ovarian disorder, which occurs in about 15 per cent of women. Irregular menstrual periods and weight problems are the main symptoms of PCOS. Well, the real cause of PCOS remains a mystery still.

Then another common disorder seen among women is the failure to ovulate or produce eggs. This condition is called Anovulation. Drugs, ongoing physical and mental illness, Hormone imbalances, improper nutrition, pituitary or ovarian dysfunction are known to be the causes of Anovulation.

Another problem related to the reproductive system is the lack of eggs in the ovary. They may have poor ovarian reserve, which means not enough eggs to receive the sperms. Moreover, the quality of eggs also determines fertility factor. It is said that the quality of eggs decreases when one ages.
