Female Vs Female Workplace Animosity & Workplace Harrassment

Hate Your Boss? Here Are Ways to Cope!

G.N.K.
Have you ever been employed by someone that you initially started out adoring and then the adoration turns into hate? Do you hate your boss? Is your boss a competitive female who is butting heads with you either because she's threatened by brains, beauty, and your over-achieving functional personality ? Does your office performance over-shadow her performance, when slacks on a job, causing her bosses to criticize her because she seems to be slipping in the administrative executive assistant duties, but you're perfect to them and that's a pain in the butt for her?

Do you find yourself getting praised by her bosses and thanked for picking up the pieces to a job that was her responsibility when she screws up, being that she's the executive assistant, and you're her go-for? Do you feel in your heart that your boss is a miserable harpy, whose only goal is to get you fired because you're her competition in the office, the parties and picnics? Do you find yourself sometimes wishing that you didn't have to look at her because you can't stand the sight of her, and you'd much rather stay away from her, rather than play the 'keep your friends closer, but keep your enemies closer' game? Well, if so, read along, grab some pop-corn and enjoy!

Even worse, are you stuck in the same office or cubicle section with her and you can't stand the way she creeps upon you like a bat? If so, here are some things you can do to comfort yourself in the work place, while protecting your job from an evil succubus boss!

1.) If you feel that your job may be threatened simply because your female boss is threatened by your assertiveness and the fact that you're quickly gaining the favor and attention of her bosses, make an appointment with human resources and file a grievance. However, before you make the complaint, please keep documentation describing times, dates, incidents, what was exactly said-word for word and write the names down of any possible witnesses, if any.

2.) If you feel that you have truly gained the trust of her bosses, go over her head and talk to the very bosses that you have now won the favor of and that have noticed your quick-witted-assertiveness when she has screwed up! Tell them what's going on, how she makes you feel, and let them in on all the facts and incidents. You never know, this could lead to a promotion for you by way of a transfer, or you may land a position working for her very bosses on special detail! More than likely, if you're a great employee, your superiors will do all that they can to keep you because you're a benefit to the company, not a liability. They would be more willing to remove you from the situation by assigning you to another department or area, rather than get sued for workplace harrassment. Be a step ahead of your succubus boss! Oh and don't for get to be as sweet as apple pie, but frank!

2A.) If you feel that you have not gained the trust of your immediate bosse's boss, or that of human resources, contact EEOC or The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission at: http://www.eeoc.gov and they should be able to help you.

3.) Sit, watch and wait: Sit, watch and wait for your boss to screw up! Yes, wait for her to violate company policy and report her! If she's one of those type that seem to think that the company policies and rules do not relate to her, she's wrong! Things to look for:

a.) Making office supply orders and then skimming off of the inventory purchased for her own personal pleasure and private use at home!

b.) Going over the budget when ordering supplies!

c.) Tardiness/Late: Arrive to your position before your boss and make certain what time she's suppose to be in. More than likely, if you're the office go-for, your job is to arrive earlier than your immediate boss.

d.) Language usage: Wait, watch and listen for her office etiquette and conversations. Most of the time, when you're an assistant or go-for and you've been at a job for a while, your immediate superior has been there long enough to feel comfortable using 'salty' language and discuss matter that is extremely inappropriate in the office when she's around her 'buddies.' We've all heard it done before! So wait for her to let loose and talk away, just don't talk with her or involve yourself, but be sure to document the entire conversation! I once knew a woman who typed an entire conversation of her boss, dated it and then submitted it! Let her (your boss) dig her own grave! Then when it's over, after a few weeks, turn in your 'salty' transcript!

e.) Fraternization: In most offices, fraternizing or (dating your co-workers) is a no-no and conflict of interest! Watch, and listen to see if your boss is playfully or actually fooling around with someone in the office, and again, documentation, documentation, DOCUMENTATION! Turn it in to Human Resources!

f.) The computer: most companies have strict rules about browsing the internet and have guidelines and rules as to which sites are approved. If you noticed that your boss has an affinity for You Tube, or watching re-runs of some scummy show, go to IT and report her!

g.) Citizenship: Is your boss a total witch to nearly everyone in the office and does she have enemies? Chances are that if you're pretty decent and a self-respecting individual, and she hates you, then she has enemies! Is your boss a two-faced back-stabbing harpy who gossips about her co-workers? If so, wait for her to gossip about a co-worker and then let it known in directly! I would recommend sending an anonymous company e-mail to the person your boss has dogged out the most, behind her back.

Better yet, if she talks about everyone, and then smiles in their faces, go ahead and document what was said and when and then do a group e-mail, including those she has gossiped about, her immediate bosses and e-mail it to them! Oh, also include your Human Resources in the e-mail, but send this anonymously!

4.) If you'd rather not get your hands dirty, keep it low-key and cool: Try to separate yourself from her! You can still go to Human Resources, but ask them if there are ways that you can either be transferred to another department, or if there are any anonymous ways of handling your bosses behavior so that you can avoid her and possibly losing your job!

5.) Kill her with happiness and kindness: Most miserable people are miserable because they're truly unhappy inside and unhappy with their lives, and so, their only goal is to make other's miserable! Do things to block her out like listen to your favorite music on your Ipod that allows you to distance yourself from her, do your own work and stay in your own little world, but get Human Resource's permission first!

6.) Decorate your office space: Make your office a home away from home! Bring in some real flowers, photos of pets and loved ones, and cute trinkets! Use earthquake putty to cement them down so that office thieves cannot steal them! Your happiness and positivity will make your boss feel extremely stupid for making your life a living hell! Be happy, even if you must fake it at times when you want to rip your bosses jugular out!

7.) Go Zen on your boss! : Get into the Buddhist Zen wall calendars, rock garden, and mini relaxing streaming fountains! Get yourself a tiny goldfish bowl with fish of course and a tiny bonsai tree as well! Make your space your home! Chances are, she will wiz by your little space or crevice for an office and ask a question or two about the display and you can give her 'relation or happiness tips.' The worse that can happen is that she will eat your goldfish and mistake your bonsai tree for broccoli!

8.) Get acquainted with other office staff members! Make office friends and allow them to be your friends away from the office! If you get an hour or more for lunch, do something with that hour! Go to a group lunch or arrange to play flag football at a nearby neighborhood park if it's safe! This will make you popular amongst other staff members, and be sure to invite her bosses and even her! This will promote office bonding and show that you're a cool, positive, playful and loving person!

9.) Organize an office potluck! : Can you cook? If you're not the best cook, then that's okay! That's why there's the store and bakeries! Organize a potluck and start a little tradition! Get others involved such ad her bosses, and even ask your miserable boss in front of a crowded room of her co-workers and bosses if she would like to join in and either buy or cook something!

10.) Encourage your office to do a charity and toy drive for those who are less fortunate even if there's no holiday! Do it just because! Yes, this will make you look like a saint and make your boss look like even more of a miserable witch because you're helping others! This way, when or if she's ready to give you the boot, she will possibly be discouraged because she will think twice about being the evil mean succubus that got rid of the 'sweet girl.'

With all of this said, make sure that you always perform your office duties efficiently and that you do not give your witchy-poo boss any ammunition at all to use against you, in the event she wants to get you fired! Always follow the rules... Always...

This actually has a name, Queen Bee Syndrome. Having been a victim myself, I wrote about it. I usually don't promote my articles in comments, but I really thought you'd be interested - http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/1588350/queen_bee_syndrome_and_how_it_holds.html?cat=3

    Great article!

You go to someone above her head to complain. If that's doesn't work, you contact EEOC, and a workplace attorney.

What if your boss is apart of HR?? What do you do then?
