Fender Jaguar HH Guitar Review

Fender, as a brand, is known for taking old classics and putting more modern touches on them. By doing this, they can attract consumers looking for a vintage style. Also, by adding those modern touches, they can also bring buyers looking for the quality of newer Fenders. One example of this is the Fender Jaguar HH Electric Guitar. It is, essentially, a 1969 Jaguar. But they added all the new things that have made Fender known for their quality.

Features: The body of the Jaguar HH guitar, like most other high end Fenders, is made of alder wood. It provides the distinct tone and sustain that many have come to associate with the brand. The style of the body is best described as an angled Stratocaster with less curved and more sharp double cutaways. The main finish available is a black and chrome look with a matching painted headstock. The neck of the Jaguar HH is bolted onto the body, and made of maple wood. The fretboard, meanwhile is made of rosewood, and has twenty one frets with pearloid dot inlays. All of the hardware, including the vintage tuners, and Adjusto-Matic Bridge, is chrome. The bridge, by the way, is much like that of Gibson's Tune-O-Matic. Electronically, the Jaguar HH has two Dragster humbucking pickups. Also, there is an interesting scheme of volume and tone switches. There are volume and tone slide switches and a kill switch for each pickup.

Playability: Among the more classic brands of instruments, Fender is known for easy playability. The Jaguar HH has a thin and lightweight body that is easy to play standing or sitting for long periods of time. Also, the neck, though it's bolted on, has great high fret access thanks to the Fender Jaguar body style. Also, the neck is nice and smooth to make moving up and down it nice and easy.

Sound: The sound of the Jaguar HH is, thanks to the wide array of slide switches, tone controls, volume controls, and killswitches, very versatile. The Dragster humbucker pickups can sound almost Gibson like on the rhythm end and very snarly at the lead end. Between the bridge and neck pickups, you can more or less get any sound you can dream up out of this guitar.

Overall: The Fender Jaguar HH is, by all accounts, a great guitar for those who dig the vintage style but want modern sound and playability. With it, you can play just about anything and do so with ease. You can find the Jaguar HH in music stores for about $700.
