Electric Guitar
The Fender series Starcaster electric guitar is a great starter guitar for any new player. As mentioned earlier, the guitar can come in black or red. The Starcaster electric guitar has a standard 21 frets, two tone knobs, a volume knobs, and three single-coil pickups. The range of pickups enables you to adjust your treble and bass sounds, which is handy when switching from soloing to rhythm guitar. The overall tone of the guitar shows from its price-clearly, it will not have the same sound as a Gibson Les Paul. However, that's not to say that this electric guitar is not satisfactory for beginner to intermediate players. The wood is sturdy and the guitar holds tune well; in other words, it does not go out of tune very often. Finally, the guitar also has a whammy bar.
Amplifier
The Fender Starcaster electric guitar pack also comes with a Squier SP-10 Amplifer. The amp includes controls for volume, drive volume, treble, bass, gain, and an overdrive switch. In addition, there is a jack for headphone output. This amplifier delivers a 10-watt drive, so it is not recommended for concert performance. However, for the casual and beginner player, this is a great practice amp. The input jack for my amp stopped working after four years of rather consecutive use, after which I replaced this amp with one with more power. However, this amplifier will get you through the years during which you're a beginner. The plethora of volume controls allows you to mix and match sounds, developing a unique tone.
Instructional DVD
The pack also features an instructional DVD. The DVD is pretty basic, and probably not the best means of learning guitar. It can be used as a sufficient supplement to lessons or other software, though.
Other Accessories
The Fender Starcaster Electric Guitar Starter Pack includes everything you need to start playing and learning guitar straight out of the box. The packaging includes a few Fender guitar picks of medium weight, a strap for your guitar, an instrument cable to connect the guitar to the amplifier, an extra set of Fender bullet strings. In addition, the pack includes a Fender electric tuner, a guitar stand, and a carrying case.
I recommend the Fender Starcaster Electric Guitar starter pack for any new player. The guitar sounds nice and has lasted me more than four years, which is more than enough time to decide whether you want to continue playing guitar. However, I do recommend upgrading to a better guitar and amplifier after a few years experience.
