The home is a haven, and there are many things that we can do to make our home harmonious with positive energy flowing freely throughout each room. The principals of Feng Shui allow us to take this energy and manifest it within each of the rooms within the home, increasing the levels of positive energy while decreasing the levels of negative energy. This is done by using natural elements, color, furniture placement and aligning the rooms in certain directions. Incorporating all of these elements create a health, happy and positive living environment.

Feng shui is especially important in the bedroom, the place where we get our rest, become calm and sleep. One third of our lives are spent in our bedroom, and therefore it is important to make sure that the bedroom has positive energy. This room is solely about passion, self nurturing and creating a good balance within our lives. Large mirrors and living plants should be avoided in the bedroom. It is important the headboard be placed against a solid wall, without windows and doors in the way. If there happens to be windows and doors, a crystal placed a top the headboard can decrease the negative energy of these negative spaces.

Water is an important element in the bathroom of a home aligned to radiate with "chi" or positive energy. Water within the bathroom is not the same as incorporating the water element and therefore a fountain of some sort, is beneficial within each and every bathroom. It is important that the bathroom door is closed when not in use to promote the high energy levels; we do not want this positive energy to escape. Dripping faucets or other fixtures is a sign of wasting money; we do not want this negative energy to incur within our lives. Experts say that a black or red rug at the base of toilet protects against wealth that could be lost. As well as these points, the best color schemes for bathrooms are light blues, creams and grays, unless the bathroom is located in the center of the home - than the best color for the bathroom is red.

The kitchen is a place of stimulation. There are certain elements of the kitchen that can help to create a nurturing environment, and even create additional wealth. Mirrors placed within the kitchen can increase the prosperity of the home. A shiny object near the stove can create prosperity - this object could include a mirror, a shiny teapot or anything with a reflective surface. Doors should be able to be seen from either part of the kitchen, this is important to keep in mind when building a new home.

These are the most important area of your home. The bedroom, the kitchen, and the bathroom. Using these basic Feng shui tips to increase the chi within your home could not only benefit your well being, but increase your prosperity and relationships. Therefore, Feng shui is an important element when designing a home.
