Feng Shui Your Home with Color

Chloe Thorn
When trying to create a Zen like experience in your room or home a great place to start is in using Feng Shui colors. The backdrop of these cool colors will help give your home the calming experience you desire. When trying to do Feng Shui in your own home you need to remember what you are trying to do is create a harmonious color spectrum or a yin and yang of color.

Yin is your calming energy and can be colors like light greens, pale blues, and white. This is great for a calming experience however is not always good for places like your gym or your work area where you want to be more alive and awake. Yang energies and the colors that reflect those would be best in these places. Colors such as yellows, oranges, and reds. These colors symbolize fire elements and warmth. And although you might only like certain colors, to obtain a balance and have a Feng Shui home you must intersperse your favorite colors, whether yin or yang ,throughout your home.

For example to balance your bedroom if you want a crimson red wall this represents the yang of the part of your room. To add some of the calming elements or yin you can have a white bed spread and black pillows. This will balance out well. The point is to not use all of one color and also to remember hat room you are putting colors into. Purple is a great color for bedroom for it symbolizes mental and physical healing and is very important. Orange is a great color for a study or office for this color is supposed to infuse you with strength of concentration and creativity.

Make sure as you Feng Shui your home that not only are the colors in balance in each room but also are the colors in balance throughout the home. You don't want to have more yang than yin in your home otherwise your place my not give you the sense of welcoming you desire. If you have too much yin and not enough yang your home maybe a place of too much peace and not enough fun and life.

One of the reasons that Feng Shui has become so important is that the colors are not just representative of an element of the world it is also representative of yourself. Yin and Yang are also inside of us, we are happy and angry, calm and nervous. When we see certain colors they can reflect or even affect our moods. So when your home is a reflections of both yin and yang than it represent the whole of you as well, bring you in harmony with yourself and the place that you live. This also gives you different areas that feel more comfortable depending on your mood, and makes sure that you will always feel at ease within your own home.
