Feng Shui in Your Life

Helpful Feng Shui Tips

Feng shui allows a person to establish order, flow and balance in one's own environment. Many people all over the world and China have embraced feng shui in their own lives because of it's practicality. Although there are sometimes disagreements over whether or not the arrangement of inanimate objects can have a very real effect on living things, there are some aspects of feng shui that should be looked at more carefully.

When an environment becomes clean, organized, segmented and well reasoned-- it allows us to relax more easily, conjure up less stress, remain at existential ease and ultimately foster a healthy lifestyle. The simple act of rearranging furniture and decorations according to function and beauty can translate to a whole slew of positive effects. To make a long story short, it just makes things easier.

The entire universe falls in between categories or big and small, positive and negative poles, etc, and feng shui represents the ordered culmination of the world. It purports that the balance found in nature can be emulated, or even improved on, in your own life and home. Typically this just applies to your own demeanor, the way your home is arranged, and how you conduct your day to day business. There are however different controversies surrounding just what feng shui is and how it should be understood. Needless to say traditional scholars from China agree on one more conservative approach while other countries naturally tend to apply their own values to those offered in feng shui. But this does not mean feng shui is some elusive and enlightened sense of living. In fact, it can prove useful to just about anyone and is probably already a part of your life whether you've been aware of it or not.

An extreme example of what feng shui is not would be putting a large television in the kitchen, or bathroom for that matter. Function, color, shape and value are important factors to consider when applying feng shui to your life. There is a purpose for each area of the home for instance. There are colors and shapes to accentuate these niches. Feng shui attempts to bridge the gap between the small, seemingly mundane act of keeping a clean home to something as big as having a successful career and life.

In my experience some applications of feng shui have proved useful in keeping a consistent budget and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I've developed more routines in my eating and sleeping patterns which has allowed me to feel more energized in itself. I've also been able to save a tremendous amount of time through feng shui. Since my place is clean, it's a lot harder to lose my keys or my remote, which means I'm much less likely to get mad and stampede from room to room.
