Feng Shui Your Office Area

Did you know that rearranging the stuff in your workspace can help you make better decisions? Try an ancient Chinese organization method called Feng Shui.

This method is all about getting organized. Clutter is the number one reason for feeling disorganized. Don't you feel overwhelmed when you're in an unorganized mess? Chances are the messages given off by the mess around you are slowly wreaking havoc on your thoughts, on a subconscious level.

Through my studies of the subject over the past five years, I noticed a direct link between the organization of my spaces and my moods. I recommend starting with the book Move Your Stuff, Change Your Life. It's light reading and will get you on the road to better understanding the design tool.

Take some time to look at the piles of work around you. Get some manila files together and a fat sharpie - getting organized must haves. Sort through the piles and organize accordingly.

Next, consider adding a plant to the mix of on-desk accessories. According to Feng Shui principles, plants are a perfect solution to a computer and work filled space. This remedy is ideal, especially if you're staring at a computer screen for hours each day.

Now, remove anything that contains negativity. Use logic here. If you're reading or seeing negative messages or images on a daily basis, they're probably influencing your thoughts and decisions.

Clear the slate, get organized and create a space conducive to good things coming to fruition.
