Feral Children and the Dangers They Face

JAMIE MYLES
The term "feral children" conjures up images of the unfortunate children who have been left to survive the best they can while no one cares for them. We have seen articles in the news about these children. There also have been programs on television bringing attention to their plight.

The damage to these precious children is profound. some never developed the ability to speak. others are unable to form natural bonds with anyone. Even the scientist's who have studied these kids have dehumanized them just by turning them into test subjects instead of meeting the most basic need, the need to be accepted and loved.

The children we have been made aware of aren't the the only children who are feral in this day and age. What about all the kid's who are left to raise themselves because there parents are to busy working to get all the trappings of society or are drug addicted and not capable or suitable to raise their children? So many of these kids are roaming our streets in packs like animals and are without moral compass or conscience. they too are feral children who will eventually grow up and prey on society. The prisons are full of people who had no parental guidance or instruction. They pretty much raised themselve's in a whatever way they felt would help them survive. Some ran in packs. We call these packs gangs. Some are misfit loners and never really make connection to others. We call them anti social or just plain weird and ostracize them even more. Whenever children raise themselve's they are in danger from pedophiles and other predators.

The damage done to all these children is great and we as a society are accountable for this. Feral children are among us and we are to blind to see them, so they will be lost and fall through the cracks. Unless people understand that the so called wild children aren't just the ones, who because of the extreme neglect, are brought to our attention by the media, but are also the ones whom we see every day living on the streets of America outside the boundaries of society without any regard to the rule of law or the basic morals of society. They too are feral{wild] children and will suffer the danger of prison ,death and victimization. But we also have and will suffer at their hands because they have no concept of right and wrong.

The danger to feral children is huge because those who should love and protect them have not done so. The danger to society as a whole is great because those who should have taught these children right and wrong and instilled morals into them have neglected to do so. Wake up America and save our children.

There are approximately 1.5 million homeless children on the streets of the United States of America. When many are asked why they chose to live this way, they say they like it because they have no rules or responsibilities.
