Feral Friends Community Cat Alliance Needs Volunteers - Richardson, TX

Terri Rimmer
Can you spare a day to help some kittens out?

Feral Friends needs volunteers to help with cat/kitten adoptions each weekend.

Adoptions are held every Saturday and Sunday from 11-4 at PetSmart on Coit Road North Dallas, TX.

Each shift works with a partner so you will not be alone.

Due to schedule and life changes the agency has lost many of their adoption counselors and will have to cancel some adoption days if they cannot get help from volunteers.

If you can help or have any questions, email krichert@verizon.net.

Feral Friends' office is located in Richardson and may also be contacted at Box 832857.

In unrelated pet news, the Humane Society of the U.S. (HSUS) is having their annual Spay Day Pet Photo Contest. Presented by Zazzle, you can enter through Facebook Connect. Then help save animals' lives by sharing your pet's photo and story and asking them to vote for your pet. You'll also help HSUS, Humane Society International (HSI), and nearly 300 international participating organizations in their mission to end pet homelessness.

More than 600 pets with the most votes will win stellar prizes, according to the HSUS press release.

To upload a photo of your pet using your Facebook account to get started, go to http://photocontest.humanesociety.org/contest.html?contestId=3&utm_source=fbemail012611&utm_medium=facebook&utm_campaign=spaydaampaign=spayday.

In other HSI news, the organization, as part of their long-term commitment of trying to repair the devastating effects to animals in Haiti last year after the earthquake, has collaborated with Best Friends Animal Society and local partners to build the country's first animal welfare center and low-cost vet hospital where further training for local vets is provided.

In other pet news, Charming Acres Rescue needs donations and they may be sent to: 614 Gault Road, Gap, PA 17527. They are a privately owned and funded horse rescue group and their Facebook page is http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=551091803#!/profile.php?id=551091803&sk=info.

For $20 you can make a difference for a street dog in Bhutan which covers the cost of spay/neuter surgery and vaccinations. (Source: HSI).
