Fergalicious by Fergie

R.A. Riter
Fergalicious is the second song that was released from Fergie's first album called The Dutchess. Featuring fellow Black Eyed Peas member Will.I.Am, it peaked at the number two spot on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. It was able to top the U.S. Pop 100 charts and spent fourteen weeks towards the top of the Hot 100. It was a very popular online download, causing this song to be certified 2x platinum in the U.S. It held the record for most times one song was downloaded in one week, which has been broken by Low by Flo Rida since. This song has been downloaded around three million times as of 2009.

This song caused some controversy between singers Fergie and Nelly Furtado. In Fergie's song, one line goes 'But I ain't promiscuous'. While this hasn't been confirmed, Furtado thought this lyric referred to her hit song Promiscuous. In retaliation, Furtado wrote a verse that was directed towards Fergie in her song Give It to Me. Then, in retaliation of this, Fergie has a couple lines of response of the remix of the song Impacto.

The music video for Fergalicious aired first on MTV on October 24, 2006. It was filmed in Hollywood and directed by Fatima Robinson, the same director of My Humps. This song features the member of the Black Eyed Peas. The setting for the video is much like the Willy Wonka candy factory. This factory is actually called Fergieland in the video. The video begins with Oompa Loompas boxing up candy labeled as Fergalicious. Then, Fergie is seen in a field of candy canes. Throughout the video she wears different outfits - one Girl Scout outfit, two swimsuit, one in a gym outfit, and one in a dress similar to Shirley Temple. This song has been seen over twenty-two million times on YouTube and was voted as the sexiest video made in the year 2007.

There have been many different releases of this song. The first release was on a CD. The second release was on the Australian CD. Third, there was a UK Promo CD released that contained a radio edit of the song Fergalicious. This was released to just the UK. Then, another CD was released to the UK. This contained one version of the song Fergalicious, which was also a radio edit. Finally, a downloadable single was released to the UK, which was finally the album version.
