The Ferndale High School volleyball team lost the championship game to Livonia Churchill, but should be proud of a great season. The team finished the season with a 23-15-2 record, their best in many years. They reached the Class A regional championship game by beating Detroit Denby in the regional semifinal.

Ferndale's best player, statistically, was Kelsey Wilson, a 6-foot-1 junior. Other major contributors to the successful season included seniors Alexis Smitowski and Rachel Burnham. Junior Molly Breen-Bondie led the team with 10 digs in the championship game.

The season marked Ferndale's first district championship since 2005 when they defeated Warren Fitzgerald on Nov. 5. Despite falling one game short of the Class A regional championship, the team should be applauded for an excellent season.
