Ferndale police blotter

Mark Vansetti
A 27-year-old woman attempted to force her way into her ex-boyfriend's home with a baseball bat and a stun gun. The man reported to police that he had spoken on the phone with the woman earlier in the day and told her not to come to his house. She came anyway, along with her two young children, and began banging on the door with her Louisville Slugger. After breaking a window and cutting her hand, the man called police, who arrived while she was still on the front porch. Ferndale Police found that the woman also had a stun gun, which was illegal to possess. She was charged with illegal possession of the stun gun and malicious destruction of property.

A bus driver dealing with an unruly passenger drove the bus to the Ferndale Police Station. He requested assistance from officers, who asked the woman to leave the bus, but she refused. Becoming very angry, the woman resisted police, who attempted to escort her from the bus, by slapping one of the officers in the face. Once she began to wrestle with them, a Taser was used to subdue her. The woman was not done fighting, however; after she was handcuffed and walked off the bus, she bit an officer hard enough to break his skin. She was charged with assaulting a police officer, a felony with a maximum sentence of four years.

Police are asking Ferndale residents to be on the look out for a man who attempted to lure a 13-year-old girl into his blue, full-sized van. The incident took place near the corner of East Hazelhurst Street and Paxton, which is in the neighborhood east of Woodward Avenue and just south of East Nine Mile Road. The man, described as a black man, between 30 and 40 years of age and wearing a white T-shirt and sunglasses, approached the 13-year-old near the street corner. He asked her name, and she began to walk back towards her house. She made it home despite being asked by the man to come to his vehicle. He drove off before police arrived.
