Ferndale Starts New Financial Planning Committee

A new Financial Planning Committee has been established by the Ferndale City Council and will meet once a week to give recommendations in regard to next year's budget and whether a proposed millage should be put on the ballet. The committee is made up of 10 people, including nine residents and former Mayor Bob Porter.

The nine residents are all Ferndale residents and come from a variety of employment backgrounds; from a piano tuner, to an attorney, to an engineer. According to city documents, the committee will be temporary and was established to have between eight and 12 members. The Council received 24 applications.

The committee is a novel idea that will, hopefully, help the City Council better understand the wishes of Ferndale residents.
