If you're trying to pick the perfect ferret cage accessories then you're going to love this article! It's going to tell you about all the different ferret cage accessories that you can add to your ferret cage. And be sure to read the entire article because I'm also going to be showing you how to build your own ferret cage accessories so you can save a couple bucks while you're at it!

Starting From The Ground Up

The Bottom Of The Cage-

Since we're going to be redesigning our entire ferret cage, why don't we begin at the very bottom? The first thing that you need to know is that ferret's have very sensitive feet. So you really need to put a lot of emphasis on what you have on the floor. If it is a wire-bottom cage you should really think about adding something that's solid! You can buy a cheap rug from a dollar store and cut it to size or you can even use some linoleum that's been fitted to the cage. Linoleum is great because your ferret won't be able to dig through it and it's solid so it's still comfortable for their feet!

The Bedding-

If you're looking for some ferret bedding then you may want to look at what's inside of the bag! I say this because ferret's have very sensitive digestive systems which can get irritated by certain wood chips such as cedar and pine. So you may want to make sure you're using bedding specifically designed for ferret cages!

Ferret Cage Accessories That Your Ferret Will Love

Ferret's love to do 4 main things throughout the day. The biggest thing that most of you will notice is that they sleep, a lot! But when they're not sleeping they enjoy more strenuous activities like digging, climbing and snooping about! That's why the best ferret cage accessories will allow them to do those things!

Digging-

Ferrets simply love to dig, its just in their nature. A great ferret cage accessory can be as simple as an area with ferret bedding that's a couple inches deep. This fast and cheap accessory will give your ferret a good place to dig around.

Climbing-

Ferrets love to climb, there's just no getting around it, which is why its a great idea to give your ferret a couple places to climb up on. Giving your ferret cage multiple levels allows your ferret to choose it's favorite sleeping spot. If your cage all ready has wire-shelves built in it, then you may want to consider adding something to make it solid as wire hurts the ferret's feet! You can eliminate this problem by simply securing a small piece of linoleum to the shelf.

Ferret Beds - The Most Important Ferret Cage Accessory

There are a number of different things you can use as a ferret bed. The perfect ferret bed will be somewhere it'll feel safe, while still being dark and most importantly warm. A lot of owners say that their ferret like hammocks that are suspended next the the shelves. The best hammock will be one that is enclosed and only accessible by a small hole, so it'll feel safe. Of course, if you don't wish to spend money on a ferret bed, you can all ways build your own. A simple idea is to just throw a small blanket in there, so it can burrow up inside it when it's sleep time or you could make your own hanging bed. Just be sure that it's not going to fall while your ferret is inside!
