Fess Parker was Noted for His Wines/winery Too
Fess Parker, dressed in hides and raccoon cap, also found himself playing Daniel Boone in a series of the same name in the 60s. The handsome actor stayed in the acting business for 22 years. Fess Parker and his wife bought 714 acres about 35 miles north of Santa Barbara in the Santa Ynez Valley. The Parker's son Eli is President and director of the Winemaking and Vineyard Operations. They have a daughter Ashley that is Vice President of Marketing and Sales.
While a successful businessman, Fess Parker was a loved character actor. Mention Davy Crockett or Daniel Boone and Fess Parker leaps to mind immediately. Mention Old Yeller and the tears come. (IF you have watched Old Yeller and NOT shed a tear. Check your emotional thermometer!)
Once again, we have lost a man of Hollywood workings, that was a grand gentleman. Thank you Fess Parker. Thank you for the wonderful family TV shows and movies that you made. And thank you for your family's wonderful wine!

I did hear of his death. How sad that all the actors from this period are getting so old and dying.

I remember him fondly.
I miss him already...had a coonskin cap as a young Davy Crockett fan... still remember the song... and I will remember Fess.
He will be missed.

Another Hollywood Icon gone, James Garner and now Fess Parker. They will both be sorely missed.
