Christmas is Coming! Decorate Your Fireplace!

While many people think of the Christmas tree as the primary showcase of Christmas, don't forget about the fireplace. Many families hang Christmas stockings at their fireplace. Some also are sure to light a glowing fire during the Christmas time. These both draw attention to the fireplace during this time. It is nice to make your fireplace look a bit extra decorated during this time.

Decorating your fireplace for Christmas can be quite simple. You can even use some objects that you may already have on hand, or will be getting for the holidays anyway. It is ideal to make the fireplace compliment the Christmas tree and the rest of your Christmas decorating. Here are some ideas for decorating your fireplace.

A classic garland of pine. This is something that many families do. When you are picking up the Christmas tree, ask for a garland of pine and place this on your fireplace. You can add some pinecones, or Christmas ornaments to this. Consider also adding a pair of red or green candles to complete the decorating.

Pinecones. Pinecones can be a great way to decorate your fireplace. Consider spraying them with fake snow (found at the craft store) or painting them with glue and then sprinkling some silver or gold glitter on them. Pinecones come in so many shapes and sizes; this can be a very unique look.

Christmas ornaments. Placing ornaments on your fireplace can look very pretty. You can put ornaments in a clear glass or plastic bowl so that people can see them. Add candles to the fireplace also so that when the candles are light, the light bounces off the ornaments. You could also place loose ornaments on your fireplace but these could fall and break, consider using a thumbtack or a piece of tape to secure each ornament.

Candles. You can decorate your fireplace entirely with candles. Get candles in different sizes for a unique look. You can keep the color of the candles the same, or get candles in complimentary colors. Scented candles can also be fun; there are some delicious holiday scents such as bayberry, pine and peppermint.

Christmas cards. This is a pretty way to decorate for the holidays, and a very nice way to show off your holiday cards received from family, friends and other loved ones. You can get a Christmas card holder or simply put the cards up on the fireplace open so they stand up. Another great way to display your cards is by hanging a ribbon on the fireplace, use a thumbtack to secure it on each side and then hang the cards on that
