Festive Ways to Propose During the Holidays

Get Engaged On Thanksgiving or Christmas

Ann Marie
It is that time of year when the air turns crisp and there is just something hanging in the air. Families are gathering together to give thanks and soon everyone will be gathering again for Christmas. Every year about this time more and more people feel the need to pop the question to their special someone. I've compiled a few romantic ways to pop the question with holiday spirit.

1. Prepare a Thanks Giving feast for two together. Once all of the food preparation is complete and you can finally set the table, make it as romantic as possible. This means skipping the paper plates and napkins, and opting for the fine china, table cloth, and candles. Before you eat have her say what she is thankful for, then its you're turn to tell her how thankful you are for her. I would suggest getting down on one knee after that and proposing.

2. This one is the same as the first one, but more public. This one takes place at either your family's house or hers. Asking her in front of everyone is a huge leap, but she'll think it is extremely romantic.

Once Christmas time arrives there are so many different things you can do to propose that it is literally insane how many things there are to do. You can be practical and predictable and propose at home in front of a fire place on a cold winter's night, or you can be creative and score extra points with your girl of choice.

1. On the first day of the month start a small ritual with her. I suggest waking before her everyday and leaving her a small note about why you love her. On Christmas give her the "why you love her" note in person, and make it the most sentimental thing you have ever written in your life. The fun part is to make her read it out loud. If you are really good and she starts to cry when she gets to that point just tell her the rest, drop to one knee and propose. If you aren't the writing type you can do the same things with small tokens of affection for her.

2. If she likes to bake, the holiday is a perfect time to put that skill to work. Ask her to teach you how to make something really easy like sugar cookies. She'll think it's sweet that you want to learn something she loves, and you get to spend more time with her. Once all the cookies are baked and its time to decorate ask her how she makes all the beautiful designs. Decorate a few like she has shown you, after that take some icing and write "marry me" on one and just give it to her.

3. If you put up outdoor decorations for the holiday put them to good use. Instead of outlining the roof in lights, write "Will you marry me?" on the roof. Once it's dark enough outside, take her outside.
