Fever Pitch Hits One Out of the Ballpark !

Fever Pitch, starring Drew Barrymore and Jimmy Fallon, is a delightful romantic comedy that guys will enjoy seeing. Unless you despise the Boston Red Sox and baseball, you will love this movie. Drew Barrymore is adorable, as always, in the romantic comedy genre. She has a remarkable way of getting along with the Saturday Night Live men, first with Adam Sandler and then Jimmy Fallon. Jimmy Fallon is perfect as the Red Sox number one fan.

Ben, played by Jimmy Fallon, moved to Boston at a young age. Being without friends, Ben's uncle took him to a Red Sox game and Ben is hooked for life. Drew Barrymore comes into play when Ben takes a group of kids on a tour to a big business. Barrymore plays Lindsay, a high powered businesswoman who does something with numbers. She is about to turn thirty and always dates men like her-workaholics.

Ben is a schoolteacher who is perfect, except whenever the Sox are playing. As the relationship grows, we see his love for the Sox become a huge problem. Ben thinks of the team as family and doesn't think twice of going to a game instead of an event important to Lindsay. Lindsay, on the other hand, thinks baseball is just a game and doesn't see the big deal about missing a game.

Drew Barrymore was on David Letterman a few nights ago promoting Fever Pitch. She told the studio audience that she and Jimmy had gone to the Dr. Phil show bringing attention to a world wide epidemic-obsessive sports fans. Jimmy Fallon's character thinks of the Red Sox as more than just a baseball team, they are the only thing that has remained constant in his life. His apartment is full of Red Sox merchandise from t-shirts to sheets. Anyone who hates the Yankees will love his toilet paper.

Fever Pitch is based on a novel by Nick Hornby, who also wrote High Fidelity and About a Boy. Hornby's novel was adapted to the screen by Lowell Ganz and Babloo Mandel, known for such works as Forget Paris and A League of Their Own. The movie is directed by the Farrelly brothers, famous for their outrageous comedies such as There's Something About Mary. The combination of these talented people makes Fever Pitch a great and funny movie full of realistic characters and enticing entertainment.
