Few Ideas for Homemade Father's Day Gifts

Arthur Kirk
Here are some ideas for homemade Father's Day Gifts for the father in your life that your children can help you make and assemble. The assembly for these items is very easy and the pieces easy to acquire. The first homemade father's day gift is extremely simple. It is a photograph frame with a little bit of a personalized touch from your children for Father's Day.

This homemade Father's Day gift is very easy to assemble because it starts with a plain photograph frame. Make sure you buy one with large borders that are unfinished. You can find these at Big Box stores such as Walmart and Target. Once you have the photograph frame for your homemade Father's Day gift, then let your children decide how they will decorate it. For young children I highly recommend purchasing stickers to avoid the mess paint might cause. Get some large letter stickers and at the top of the frame spell the word "Dad" or "Daddy", then as the parent your work is done. Give your children the stickers and tell them to decorate the border for their dad as his homemade Father's Day present. Get them a large variety of stickers and let your children's imagination go to town for creating this homemade Father's Day present. If you have older children then maybe some paint and paintbrushes would work great as an option for them to decorate the Father's Day photograph frame. As a dad, I can say I'd love to have a photograph frame my child decorated to display at work. Of course finish it off with a photograph of the child or children involved in decorating the frame.

Another great option as a homemade Father's Day gift is a decorated beverage holder. Again it is very simple to assemble as most of the project involves purchasing one item that is already assembled and personalizing it for the dad in your life. Go and purchase a beverage holder also known as a coozie. Then once again pick up either stickers or paint for your children, depending on the age of the children that will be helping to assemble the coozie for their dad as a homemade Father's Day present. Let your children decorate the coozie however they wish, but make sure they understand that it is a gift from them to their dad on Father's Day.

One final item for your children to make at home as a homemade Father's Day gift for their dad. This is a homemade t-shirt for Dad on Father's Day. Go ahead and purchase a plain white t-shirt in the size of the children's dad. Then bring it home and get some paint out. Yes, this can be very messy, so you might want to put down plastic covering under the work area. Have your children or child choose a spot on the shirt and then let them dip the palm and fingers of their hand in finger paint and put it on the shirt, do this with both hands. Next, let the children either paint their own design on the shirt with a brush or do it with fingerpaint. On the back as the adult supervising the creation of the t-shirt make sure you paint the words "Happy Father's Day".

Obviously these are crafts for young children to prepare for their father as homemade Father's Day Gifts, but feel free to adjust these ideas based on the age range of your children.

  • Homemade gifts for Father's Day mean more to us dads than you think.
  • This is especially true for dads with young children.
  • Stickers are cleaner, but of course your children will love playing with paint.
Father's day is a time to show the dad in your children's lives how important and loved they are. Making a gift makes it more personal than buying one.
