It will be available in four variants- the Active, Dynamic, Emotion and Emotion PK. The petrol variants would come with 1.2 litre and 1.4 FIRE litre power trains, and the diesel variant gets a 1.3 litre multijet diesel engine. The 1.2 litre petrol engine will be available only on the base variant Active. The 1.4litre FIRE engine run Grande Punto is priced between Rs 4. 66 lakh to Rs 5.61 lakh.
"The launch of the Grande Punto I another milestone for Fiat in India as it bring in the quintessentially Italian design car to the Indian shores," said Chief Executive Officer, of Fiat India Automobiles Mr. Rajeev Kapoor, at the launch function in New Delhi.
He said that the small car segment remains largely untapped and customers are increasingly looking forward to international brands on Indian roads.
Fiat has positioned the car in the premium hatchback segment to rival the newly launched Honda Jazz, Maruti Suzuki Ritz, Hyundai i20 and Skoda Fabia. Fiat Grand Punto will be marketed through 100 and odd Tata-Fiat dealerships network across the country.
All variants of the car will be rolled out from the company's plat at Ranjangaon in Maharashtra. Grande Punto, was first launched in the European market in 2005. It will join Fiat other small cars such as Palio, Palio Stile and 500.
