Fiber Choice Sugar Free Assorted Fruit Chewable Tablets Will Get You Through the Holidays

Susan Slade
Fiber Choice Sugar Free Assorted Fruit Chewable Tablets were a great find at our local Walgreens drugstore. The retail price, for a tube of 10 was $2.49, but after purchasing them at the register, I received the full amount of money back in a coupon, to spend on my next visit.

Over the years I have tried so many products, such as Metamucil that you add to water, and I haven't been able to finish the glass. Therefore when I saw these, I thought that I might be on a winner.

Purchasing them in a tube is expensive, but if you buy the bottle of 90, then they run about 10 cents each, compared to 25 cents.

The tube is covered with the label, and is sealed at one end. You have to get a knife, or a cutter, and carefully go around the edge to open it up. There is a flip up lid, which comes off, so after taking out one tablet, make sure that you push it back in. This will keep them fresh.

The flavors are strawberry, grape and green apple. The first tablet was a pale pink, it measured one inch across, and a quarter of an inch in depth. Yes these are really big tablets. They have a line down the middle, which makes me think that you can have just half of one, if you only need a small amount of fiber. I held the tablet and pulled at both sides, and it broke in half real easily.

The taste was the most important factor to me. It really didn't have a lot of flavor, it wasn't sweet, in actual fact it was rather bland. I chewed it and it took less than a minute to dissolve in my mouth. I checked my teeth, and after another minute, the color and 'bits' had gone from them. There is very little aftertaste.

It states that you don't need to take them with water. However, my throat did feel dry after having one. I think that it would be good to have one on hand just in case you need it.

The serving size suggested is 2 tablets a day. Calories from these are 15. There are 7 grams of total carbs., dietary fiber 4 grams, and soluble fiber 4 grams. It is suggested that adults and children 13 and older have the full 2 tablets. Children 6 to 11 years old 1 tablet a day. This could be the reason for halving them. Do not exceed 6 tablets a day.

I wouldn't use these everyday as I do a lot of cooking. I normally cook 6 or 7 vegetables with our dinner. However, on a day when we are rushing around, and eat a fast food meal, these will be perfect for us. As they are sugar free my husband Len can have them too. With him being diabetic it is great to have a product we can both use.

I will purchase the bottle, and then transfer 10 into the tube. This way I can keep them handy. I also love the fact that they can be halved. Sometimes all you need is a little help in that department.

If does state on the tube: "If minor gas or bloating occurs, temporarily reduce daily serving".

These should be kept below 86 degrees F. (30 C.).

So if you are one of the millions of people that don't eat a balanced diet, then these may be just the right product for you. Since taking the occasional one I can say that I am regular, and don't have to strain.
