FIFA Soccer 09 Review (PS3)

S.R.
FIFA Soccer 09 is a Soccer game released for the Playstation 3 and developed by EA Canada. There aren't many other soccer games around, so hopefully this one is good. Let's find out.

Story : It's a soccer game, though I suppose you could pretend there's a story there isn't one. Not much else to say overall.

Graphics : The best graphics for any soccer game, easy. Incredible graphics top to bottom. People have watched me play and thought they were looking at a real soccer game for a few seconds. It's that believable, and they really pulled out all the stops for this game graphically. Intense detail to the players, fields, and even the fans really liven up this game. A true masterpiece, graphically.

Sound : The sound is really enjoyable as well. They offer everything important to a soccer game here. The roar, the insane cheering, the sound of the soccer ball being hit, the foot steps. It's all very real sounding and really interactive and dynamic. A really titanic effort here, and it shows. The music is very ambient and not engaging but that isn't too much of a negative anyway as sports games rarely have good music.

Game play : The central force of any sports game, or I suppose for any game in general. This is quite honestly the best soccer game every created. One big knock on soccer games is that they don't accurate capture the nuances of a real soccer game. This one doesn't either, but it's the closest any soccer game has ever come. If you have a passing interesting in soccer at all, you will likely be blown away at some of the intricacies they've incorporated into the game. Very cool. The controls are also very very good. They are basic but still can be quite complex if you need to do something complex in the game. In addition, they're very sensitive and responsive meaning you can fake out other players with a bit of practice. It's very fun and when you've steadied your nerves you can do all kinds of really interactive soccer strategies.

Re playability : Extremely re playable, due to the level of strategy involved with even a basic game. The best thing about this game is it tailors itself to your mood. Want a fun, no brainer game? It can do that. Want an intense strategic game? It can do that too.

Overall : 9/10 if you love Soccer and 7/10 if you don't. Simply put, the best soccer game ever made.
