Fig Newtons Fruit Crisps Snacks: Delicious Treats Are More Than Cookies

JRS
If you should find yourself in a grocery store, and you should happen down the cookie and cracker aisle and stumble upon a box of Nabisco's New Newtons Fruit Crisp Snacks, you should so grab it!

These things are outrageously good!

I'm not sure why I bought these on my last shopping trip, perhaps because I was in a 'fruity' mood and the photo on the box cover appealed to me. Normally I may have chosen the apple variety of Nabisco's Newton Fruit Crisps Snacks, but seeing the strawberries, blueberries and apple on the cover of the Mixed Berry Newtons Fruit Crisps Snacks worked better to whet my appetite at the time.

Ingredients:
Then, I noticed the little graphic telling me that the Nabisco Newtons Fruit Crisps Snacks are made with REAL FRUIT and are not just fruit flavored! So, I checked the side panel to be sure...yep, there it was, blueberry, red raspberry, strawberry, and blackberry puree. Enriched flour, wheat flour to be exact, was the main ingredient, AND these were 100 calorie per pack! This would be another good snack to keep handy in my desk at work.

Packaging:
There were 8 packs to a box, 2 fruit crisps in each of the 8 packs. The box had a 'Sensible Solution' stamp on one of the side panels. This meant the Newtons Fruit Crisps Snacks were a good source of calcium, had no cholesterol, and were low in fat with only 2 grams per serving. I noticed they were also low in sodium with only 4% of a 2,000-calorie diet per day. They have 8 grams of sugar, 1 gram of protein, 15% calcium, and 4% iron.

The Taste:
The next morning at work I bit into one of the Newtons Mixed Berry Fruit Crisps and found it to be heavenly! It was very light and decadent. Crispy on the outside with a thin chewy moist layer of fruit filling in between the two cracker-like layers, these light and airy delicacies are just sweet enough!

Without hesitation I quickly devoured the crispy deliciousness though I tried my best to savor it slowly. This was a wonderful treat that made ME feel very special. It wasn't just some cookie or cracker! I felt rich and privileged! I then proceeded to enjoy the partner fruit crisp from the twin pack. A line from an old Nabisco Fig Newtons commercial came to mind,'...it's not just a cookie, it's a cake,'...or does it say:' ...it's a Newton?' Well, anyhow, the point is that these delicious little snacks are delicious, low in calories for the health conscious, and they are good for the ego! So definitely grab a box if you encounter them!
