"Melanie asked us if we could, instead of a funeral, hold a rally in her honor."
On Feb. 17 the group is asking citizens to stand up to corporate lobbyists and Republican "fear-mongering" by participating in events all over the U.S., with more being added every day."

"We voted for change in 2008," states an email from Health Care for America Now. "America was angry in 2008."
The mass email went on to say that in Massachusetts: "Voters stood up and told us that they're still angry and that they still want change."
"The need for health care reform is as great today as it was yesterday," wrote Levana Layendecker of Health Care for America Now. "But the politicians in Washington might not get that message."
Layendecker writes that: "We need to hold the Wall Street-run insurance companies accountable."
That's the change citizens voted for, she says.

On Jan. 14 Susan G. Komen Tarrant County presented 11 local non-profit organizations with $1,495 million in grants, supporting 14 programs designed to provide funding for mammograms, education, and treatment for uninsured and underinsured Tarrant County residents in need of breast health awareness or breast cancer services.
To date, Komen Tarrant County has raised more than $15 million locally for breast cancer education, treatment, prevention, and research, according to their website, komentarrant.org.
