Fighting the MBA Battle

Getting admission into a top business school is like a battlefield in which every engineer of today's time has to fight. A MBA degree has become an easy gateway for students to attract high salary and reach higher positions in an organization. Many graduates right after completing their degree wish to enter a MBA college but most reputed universities these days are looking for a minimum of 3 years professional work experience. So students need to gain some experience before getting admission into a business school for their Post Graduate degree in Business Administration. This MBA fever has not spared even the working professionals as they too wish to climb up the success ladder quickly with a MBA degree. But this I believe is making the degree lose its original significance as it is no more a medium for people to broaden their skills and gain expertise but is becoming a shortcut to success.

Different colleges and universities look for different qualifications and skill set in the students that apply to them. Many give preference to greater work experience while others prefer to base their judgment on some common admission tests like GMAT and CAT (in India). It is a very expensive affair to start a MBA admission procedure. Before appearing for any MBA admission test a student needs to start preparing with a highly expensive coaching to get an upper edge over other aspiring candidates. Then even after attaining a high score in such an exam which costs about $250, there is no guarantee of an admission so the candidate needs to apply to multiple universities and colleges with application fees of no less than $250. Then there are rounds of interview with all colleges and justify your excellence over other applicants. Since global colleges have students from across the globe, even Indian MBA aspirants prefer taking admission into a foreign college to have a global exposure and enhance their chances of getting a better job after completion of MBA.

For a working person the decision to go for a full time MBA is never easy as he already has a job in hand but with the global recession and low economics one can never be assured of getting a better job after coming out of a Business school. So he first needs to quit his current job, then take the burden of funding his degree and then after the completion look for another better job. So a candidate must be completely serious during all the phases starting from preparation till getting a good job after doing a MBA as there is no point of returning back if failure shows up at any point. There are proper strategies for cracking the MBA entrance exam of which a candidate must take care of, then there are specific details which every college looks for during admission and which must be highlighted by the candidate. A proper and deep knowledge about the MBA admissions is a must for every aspirant to conquer the so called "MBA Battlefield".
