Film Review: ATTACK GIRLS' SWIM TEAM VS. THE UNDEAD (2007)

Girls Vs. Zombies!

It's been a while since I've seen a genuinely bad Japanese film, that is until I saw "Attack Girls' Swim Team Vs. The Undead" (2007). I love zombie films but when they get so many things wrong (or in the case of this film - bad) then I have to take notice. The story concerns a resent student transfer student Aki (Sasa Honda), who has fear of the water. The city is plagued by a resent virus and the school is forcing everyone to be inoculated. The only problem is that the teachers and students of the school have found themselves part of an experiment in which the inoculation is really turning the students and staff into zombie like creatures that go on a killing spree killing everyone else.

Sounds like a good idea for a zombie except that only the swim team didn't turn into zombies which is because of the chlorine in the pool that they swim in every day (?). Also, those that were turned into zombies because of the inoculation can be turned back into human simply by throwing the pool water on them (??). Some of this can be forgiven (maybe not) but to also have horrendous makeup on your zombies just doesn't bold well either.

Another problem with the film (as though the above wasn't enough) is the fact that the film is a porno-zombie film (thought you'd never hear that one did you???) so if you didn't see this coming from the trailer, poster, or other marketing materials be forewarned. I like a little sex in my movies but in this zombie opus there is a sex scene about every 20 minutes (until you get closer to the end then they come more frequently). There's both lesbian and heterosexual content so there is plenty for everyone.

Even this might make some people want to see the film but at just 78 minutes the film is long and at times very boring because the characters are uninteresting and even when the zombies and action are on the screen it is un-engaging. Skip this film at all costs.
