Film Review: GRIZZLY RAGE (2007)

When Grizzly Bears Go Bad!

Kevin L. Powers
When four friends on a road trip accidently kill a grizzly bear cub with their car, mamma grizzly gets very angry and goes after the friends killing them one by one...or at least that's what they want you to believe in the timid and pedestrian film Grizzly Rage (2007). I enjoy the low budget made-for-TV sci-fi/horror film as much as the next person but this film gets old very fast.

Despite the low budget, mediocre and predictable script, and extremely bad acting...this is still a bad film. It starts off on a bad foot by having a bunch of party-going 20-somethings getting together and it devolves from there. There is nothing redeeming about this film as is usual with these types of films the characters do all the wrong things and say all the wrong things and act all in the wrong way. What's even worse is that the film goes on forever as the grizzly wounds each character repeatedly before killing them making for some of the longest death scenes in recent memory.

The film is directed by David DeCoteau and written by Arne Olsen with a bunch of actors you won't care about. DeCoteau is no stranger to mediocre or downright bad films having made all of The Brotherhood films as well as such infamous films as Ancient Evil: Scream of the Mummy, The Raven (2007), The Frightening (2002), and Witchhouse (1999), to name a few. His films lack originality and are usually by-the-numbers which this film is 100%.
